Oliver’s Colorful First Birthday Party Invitations

Melissa from Atheneum Creative recently celebrated a huge milestone – her baby boy, Oliver, turned a year old! And while first birthday parties are definitely for the parents, anyone who has been through that first year knows that it’s definitely a milestone worth celebrating with family and friends. Melissa created some adorable invitations to mark the occasion, along with some cute day-of party goodies!

From Melissa: The invitation included a letterpress card and accordion fold enclosure filled with photos from Oliver’s first year. We wanted to fill the party itself with lots of color and energy. We played up the number one through all the party materials.

Plastic plates, water bottle labels, and stir sticks were all custom printed with the graphic while the napkins listed a few of Oliver’s favorite foods and activities. For the guest goodie bags we created a stamp to press large muslin bags filled with bubbles and snacks. Each bag included a custom button with the guest name.

Gregg + Ilana’s Outdoors-Inspired Save the Dates

When it comes time to design their own wedding invitations and personal stationery, designers can often be their own toughest clients – but I always love to see the results! For her own wedding save the dates, Ilana from Sugar and Type wanted to capture her fiancé’s love of cycling and their shared love of the outdoors. Ilana incorporated lots of outdoors-inspired imagery with a horizontal layout, hand addressed kraft paper envelopes, and purple edge painting!

From Ilana: My fiancé was a professional BMX Racer, and now rides Cyclocross all over the United States. Cycling is a huge part of our lives, and I really wanted to incorporate our love for the outdoors, hiking, biking, and soaking up the sun. After showing Gregg tons of options, he loved this approach! It was so rewarding to find something we felt represented our relationship.

I was happy to call our dear friend Amy of Greengirl Press and be able to help her pull our prints off her Vandercook Press. We used 220 lb paper, giving us the opportunity to do a pop of color with purple edge painting.

Stationery A-Z: Hand Lettered Greeting Cards

Normally for these posts I round up a group of cards around a particular occasion: birthdays, thank you cards, new baby cards, etc. But today I thought I’d do something a little different – and round up a few favorite cards featuring a common design theme: hand lettering! I hope you enjoy this round up as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
