Molly + Mark’s Floral-Inspired Southern Wedding Invitations

These wedding invitations from Holly Hollon mix whimsical calligraphy and floral illustrations – so perfect for a late summer wedding in the South! I love the simplicity of the single color letterpress printing, which really allows the beautiful calligraphy to take center stage. Gorgeous!

From Holly: This invitation suite was created for a southern wedding. The bride loved calligraphy mixed with florals and she wanted the calligraphy to be inside a floral wreath. It was lots of fun to create the whimsical details and to add in flowing banners to tie everything together to highlight certain parts of the invitation, such as their names.

With the exception of the thank you cards, everything was letterpress printed in a bright blue to coordinate with the bride’s wedding colors.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Animal Motifs

We all see different animals take their turn in the spotlight. Think owls and, as of late, foxes. But there’s something quite sweet and whimsical about incorporating animal motifs into your wedding day, even if they aren’t the trending animal of the moment! You may have seen a little animal stamp on your place card at past weddings, indicating your dinner of choice, but these ideas take it to the next level, bringing animal silhouettes, fancied up plastic animals, and origami varieties to your big day! — Kelly

Zachary + Alexandra’s Engagement Dinner Party Invitations

After becoming engaged during a trip to Colorado, Zach and Alexandra’s families wanted to celebrate their upcoming nuptials with a dinner party. They worked with Rux from Lush Prints on the engagement party invitations, incorporating their yellow and gray color palette along with a beautiful custom monogram stamp. Such a fun way to begin an engagement!

From Rux: These dinner invitation for the newly engaged couple Zachary & Alexandra were inspired by two elements: their classic gray and yellow color palette, and their engagement story.  The two became engaged while hiking in the Rocky Mountains during Alexandra’s summer visit to Colorado, where Zach was working as cowboy on a ranch. The view was amazing, so much so they decided to take a quick photo to remember the moment. We included their engagement story into the invitation design by incorporating that candid photo in the mountains. The complete invitation set includes two custom monograms that will be used throughout their engagement events.

Sydney + Tim’s Rustic Wood Wedding Invitations

Sydney and Tim’s beautiful wedding invitations were inspired by the bride’s upbringing on a cattle ranch in rural Wyoming. Emily and Dianna from Fourth Year Studio created an invitation suite that was both rustic and elegant, pairing wood elements with classic black and white. So pretty!

From Emily and Dianna: Sydney and Tim were med students living in Minneapolis when they got engaged during a vacation in Italy!  Sydney grew up on a cattle farm in Wyoming and found herself looking back to her roots when planning the wedding.  She wanted the invitations to reflect the rustic beauty of her home state.  The main invitation was printed on wood with a letterpress printed rsvp postcard.  Black and white baker’s twine tied a vellum map around the invitation and rsvp to create a sophisticated yet rustic wedding invitation suite.

Sydney describes the beauty of the Big Sky at the ranch: ”I love the idea of having wooden invitations to echo the gorgeous pine and oak forests around our ranch.  The ranch is in a very rural area that is full of rolling hills, grazing deer, and lots of sky.  There is nothing as beautiful as the night sky in Wyoming.  Tim and I love to lay out in the grass in the summer and ooh and aah at the seemingly endless display.”

We incorporated Sydney’s hand-drawn sketch of the antlers throughout the set.  Since the wedding took place in a rural area it was important to provide a map and directions for guests.  We illustrated the map with icons for Devil’s Tower, the Clark Ranch, and the airport.  Down the center of the map was the South Dakota – Wyoming state line.

Thanks so much Emily and Dianna!

All About Wedding Ceremony Programs

Once you’ve mailed your wedding invitations and are spending your days waiting expectantly by the mailbox for replies, you might start thinking about all those other lovely paper details needed for your big day. One such detail is the ceremony program.

So, what exactly is a ceremony program?

Ceremony programs should outline for guests a basic run-down of what will occur during the ceremony.  They often also outline who’s who in the wedding party and families of the couple. Some types of information you may want to include in your program:

• Order of events: this might include processionals, readings, prayers, the exchange of vows, etc.

• Specific details about the ceremony: this could include specific music that will accompany the wedding party processional, names and origins of readings, music heard or performed throughout the ceremony, etc.

• Names of parents, grandparents and celebrants/officiants

• Names of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls, ring bearers and ushers

• Any notes or explanations about specific cultural or personal traditions that will take place during the ceremony

• Any notes of remembrance for friends or family who are no longer with you or who were unable to attend

• Any notes of thanks to your friends and family for their presence and guidance

Of course, your program should be a reflection of your event, your personalities and what feels right to you. There is no wedding police and every program is different so do not feel that you need to include everything listed above.  Instead, just think about what you would want to or care to read if you were a guest at your wedding.

What do ceremony programs look like?
Ceremony programs come in all shapes and sizes and those shapes and sizes largely depend on the amount of content you’d like included and your vision for the piece!

Will you be including each reading and prayer written out?  Then perhaps a traditional bound booklet or flip-style program will work best and provide the most room for larger amounts of content.

Getting married on a hot summer day? Program fans are fun and functional!

Opting for a minimalist style or on a tight budget? Flat panels provide a perfect space for a to-the-point program.

Feeling creative?  Programs can be designed in all sorts of creative ways to complement your event style, themes or your venue.  Scroll programs for an English garden wedding? Sure! A chalkboard program for a sweet backyard bash? Of course!

The sky is the limit to how creative, or how sweet and simple, you can make a ceremony program and, in the end, as long as the schedule ends with you getting married, it will be a success!
