Katie + Ben’s Silhouette Booklet Wedding Invitations

If only I’d known about these invitations last week!  Kathryn posted this gorgeous wedding on Saturday, and I love, love the silhouette-inspired hard-bound invitation books that the couple created for their guests! The bride, Katie, is a stationery designer, so I happily clicked over to her stationery website, Chellé Paperie, and flickr page to learn more about the invitations and Save the Dates.

From Katie and Ben’s flickr page: The invitation is a hard cover book. We printed a full bleed on this beautiful oyster colored bookcloth and flush mounted it to the hinged covers.

The invitation was an 8 page hand-stitched signature, bound with red & white bakers twine.

The reply card is a perforated postcard.  Each book was personalized with a bookplate for the recipient, as well as a handwritten note to every guest on the last page of our book.

Some of the invitations were hand-delivered in boxes wrapped in woodgrain paper.

In addition to the post card rsvp and hand-written letter to each guest, the invitation book contained the main invitation, a map and directions, and weekend itinerary:

In addition to these gorgeous invitations, Katie also created a double-sided Save the Date poster, sent via custom mailing tubes:

Gorgeous!!  I love the personalized details throughout the entire package – and the overall design is just so, so lovely… swoon.

Book Covers Reimagined

Something must have been in the air last week, since a bunch of my favorite blogs were all about book cover designs!  Design is Mine and Unruly Things both highlighted a few of their favorite designs – I particularly liked this silhouette cover that Alyson featured:

But my absolute favorites were these re-imagined Harry Potter book covers by M.S. Corley featured on Black*Eiffel

I also really like the re-imagined covers for the Spiderwick Chronicles and Lemony Snicket – all designed to look like classic Penguin Books covers:

I haven’t featured calligraphy recently, so I jumped at the chance to feature the lovely work below from Jill, the creative force behind the custom letterpress and calligraphy design studio Copper Willow Studio:

The next two photos aren’t calligraphed, but I love them too much not to include them here:

I love calligraphy, and the combination of custom calligraphy and letterpress is just about heaven for me.  To see more from the Copper Willow portfolio and learn about their design services and pricing structure, just click here.
