Kelley + Mike’s Wine and Gold Wedding Invitations

Jackie of Sincerely, Jackie definitely knows her way around a classic and elegant wedding invitation. Add in die cut details, beautiful screen printing in wine and metallic gold, and gorgeous custom calligraphy with sweet little heart details and you’ve got a recipe for a truly romantic invitation design!

From Jackie: When my cousin, Kelley, got engaged last summer during our family camping trip, we immediately began dreaming up her perfect wedding invitations. We knew that we had to incorporate hearts into the design: Kelley was born on February 14th and we’ve always said that she has a heart so big its no wonder she was born on Valentine’s Day! Hearts are so important to her that she even has a heart shaped diamond engagement ring. How sweet is that?!

I wanted to keep the design classic while bringing in hints of playful romance, and of course heart details. I immediately brought Charmaine, of Everly, Calligraphy, on board for the design and adore the way Charmaine’s lettering brought the entire suite to life.

The invitations were printed on custom die-cut ivory paper, with a unique method of silk screen printing. The silk screen achieves a stunning metallic gold, similar to engraving, but at a much more affordable price point.  The invitation suite was paired with metallic blush outer envelopes, and a deep matte wine reply envelope. Both envelopes were digitally printed with custom calligraphy in white and wine ink.

Julia Rothman’s Nature Anatomy

I was so happy to receive a review copy of Julia Rothman’s most recent book: Nature Anatomy! Julia is an amazingly talented illustrator and I’ve been a fan of her work for years – her amazing wedding invitations were one of my very first features here on Oh So Beautiful Paper (and are still a personal favorite)! Nature Anatomy is a breathtaking illustrated guide to the natural world, with more than 200 pages of facts and insights into the world around us. Such a beautiful way to learn!

A follow up to her book Farm Anatomy, Nature Anatomy features more than 700 (!!) illustrations – everything from birds and butterflies to gems and minerals. I seriously can’t even imagine all the work that Julia put into creating this amazing book! My favorite part? An illustrated guide to wild flowers that I could stare at for hours. But really, the entire book is just gorgeous and can be enjoyed by both kids and adults!

Olivia’s Floral and Gold Polka Dot Baby Announcements

Um, yeah. Gold foil polka dots and the most beautiful baby floral crown? These baby announcements from Lauren Chism might just be the sweetest announcements I’ve EVER seen!

Floral + Gold Foil Polka Dot Baby Announcements by Lauren Chism Fine Papers / Oh So Beautiful Paper

From Lauren: When wedding industry friends and photographers, Matt and Julie Norine, welcomed their sweet daughter, Olivia, I was so excited to work with them on their announcements. What stationer doesn’t love working with beautiful photography!? Their weddings are stunning, so I thought the photos would be good, but they really blew me away. They photographed Olivia with the sweetest flowers arranged around her and a tiny floral crown. They were so precious and we had so much trouble picking the best one for the announcement. I am glad the final decision wasn’t mine!

When I saw how they used the flowers, I knew that the simple style of letterpress would go beautifully with them. Julie picked this simple polka dot design in gold foil and I love how the florals and polka dots complement each other, without competing. Julie picked some soft mint envelopes to pair with the cotton paper and gold foil. I am obsessed with mint right now and love something different than pink for a baby girl. From the photos, to the design, to the printing and envelopes – everything together turned out to be so sweet and feminine. I couldn’t love them more!

As I was attaching the photos, I thought how perfectly these could be as mini birth announcements, so I photographed them both ways. I love a classic announcement, but also like getting something surprising in the mail, and I think these cards, while tiny, would certainly stand out in your mailbox! I also love the idea of friends and family getting to frame the photo or you also could include multiple photos if you couldn’t just pick one. You could tie them together with twine or connect them with a little paper clip – just some more fun ideas to make your birth announcements special.
