Send More Mail

Chances are, if you’re reading this blog then you love to both send and receive mail (right??).  And if you’re a true correspondence connoisseur then you also appreciate beautiful stamps and a well-dressed envelope as part of a beautiful total package.  Well, Jaime from Joseph and Jaime Photography definitely falls into that category – and today she’s here to share a little project that she’s been working on showcasing the beauty of mailed paper correspondence.

Jaime has a side project called Send More Mail, where she collects packs of vintage Canadian stamps, and she’s partnered up with a stationer (Snap and Tumble) and a calligrapher (Barbara Kua) for a beautiful stationery collaboration.  As Jaime puts it: “Our collaboration is about considering all of the aspects of sending out correspondence and invitations.  A gorgeous card, addressed beautifully, complete with stunning vintage stamps.

Megan + Mike’s Chevron Stripe and Stitched Save the Dates

Megan from Ruby the Fox sent over the save the dates for her wedding this fall, and I’m completely in love with every. single. detail. From the lovely calligraphy to the zig zag stitching to the chevron stripe envelope liner – the entire concept had me at hello. And even with all of those details, Megan manages to pull everything together into a save the date that is creative yet simple and elegant in its presentation.

From Megan:  When I got engaged in October to my amazing boyfriend of seven years, I knew I would be designing my own paper suite!  With an October Chicago wedding in the works, and a color palette of “muted Autumn” I knew I wanted the Save the Dates to portray our fun personalities but also be a preview to what our eclectic, organic wedding would bring.

The inserts were letterpress printed with grey ink onto basic white luggage tags and tied with inexpensive jute twine.  The calligraphy was done by the insanely talented Angelique Phillips of Angelique Ink.

Each of the cards were sewn, lovingly, by my mom with peach thread.  They were then slipped beneath a thin vellum strip.  The outcome was exactly what I had hoped for: a fun and creative yet elegant preview to the upcoming festivities!

Business Card Ideas and Inspiration #5

I receive a bunch of fantastic submissions after my last business card post a couple of weeks ago – so it’s time for another round of business card inspiration!

These business cards from Fox Rain combine two different printing techniques on two different papers.  The top layer was letterpress printed by Shelley Weir of Sweet Peony Press with silver ink on a dark brown woodgrain paper.  Designer Sandra Liu then adhered the top layer to a bright white cotton stock hand stamped with the company’s information.  So cool!

The letterpress halftone images give these cards from Tactic Marketing a bit of texture and some cool personalized detail (via Lovely Stationery and FPO).

I can’t get over the incredible detail and fine (yet layered) lines in these letterpress business cards, printed by Boxcar Press for designer Christina Clugston.

I have a couple more business card projects to share with you a bit later, so check back soon!  And as always, if you’d like to share your own business cards or a recent business card project, you can e-mail me right here!

Paul + Colleen’s Illustrated Letterpress Save the Dates

I love, love the combination of illustration and letterpress printing.  Colleen from Craft Lovely had the opportunity to print these fantastic letterpress save the dates for her friends Colleen and Paul.  Paul, a talented artist, did the illustration and design work, while (the other) Colleen created the lovely calligraphy on the envelopes.  I’m completely smitten!

From the silhouettes to the other framed objects, the save the date design features memories and tidbits from Paul and Colleen’s relationship.  So sweet!  Check out more details over on Craft Lovely.

Crane & Co. Wedding Album Launch Party

Last week I attended a party celebrating the launch of Crane & Co.‘s newest wedding invitation album.  I got a sneak peek at some of the album designs during my tour last September (which you can see here, here, here, and here), so I was really excited to see the designs in their final, printed form.  The Crane & Co. design team has worked on some cool new designs, including some more modern pieces alongside Crane’s more traditional and refined invitations.  Here are a few photos of the new collection that I took at the party:
