Modern Gold Foil Birth Announcements

We always adore when Designer Rolodex membersÂ send over the stationery they createdÂ for their own special occasions â€“Â it feels like a family affair! Sarah fromÂ Banter & CharmÂ recently welcomed her second child, a darling baby boy named Alexander, and we’re thrilled to share his adorable birth announcements here today!Â Sarah kept things clean and modern, pairing his birth details with modern illustrations printed in gold foil. So sweet!

From Sarah: As a designer, creating something for yourself can be one of the hardest things to do. I am my own worst client. I wait until the last minute, change my mind constantly, have a terrible time making a final decision, and usually give up. That is exactly what happened with my first child. When Abby was born, I had aspirations of designing an amazing announcement just for her. However, the first few months of her life flew by in a blur, and while I created several designs, none of them were exactly what I wanted. So, in the end, I gave up on a custom announcement for my daughter.

When I found out I was expecting my second child, I promised I wouldnâ€™t let that happen again! I went back to the announcements I originally created for my daughter, and as soon as I saw this design, I knew it would be perfect for Alexander. The illustrations were simple and sweet, and paired with aÂ modern type they made the perfect accompaniment to Alex’s photo.

I went back and forth on colors, but eventually decided to go with my favorite neutrals: gray and gold. With this birth announcement, I had the chance to use a printing combination I had wanted to try for a long time: flat printing paired with foil printing. Alex’s photo and all his statistics were printed first, then the tiny icons and frame were added in gold foil. The little gold clock is my favorite!

Of course, I couldn’t pick just one photo to share, so I added a collage of photos to the back of the announcement.

I am so glad I was able to give this sweet design a purpose as Alex’s birth announcement. I can’t imagine anything more fitting for a second child’s birth announcement than a hand-me-down from his older sibling.

Bilingual Copper Foil and Blind Letterpress Wedding Invitations

If you canâ€™t have a typical destination wedding, why not bring the destination home to you? Sarah fromÂ Banter & CharmÂ designed these bilingual copper foil and blind letterpress wedding invitations as a nod to both the English and Spanish heritage of the couple! A delicate blind letterpress printed lace-inspired design was the perfect way to complement the festive copper foil details!

From Sarah: Copper foil and blind letterpress with navy accents â€“ it’s no wonder that Geraldine and Salomon’s wedding invitation suite is one of my favorite designs from the past year. Geraldine came to me looking for a custom invitation design to accommodate the bilingual wording she and her fiancÃ© would be using for their New York wedding. Since Geraldine and Salomon were inviting guests that spoke both English and Spanish, they wanted to include both languages in their wedding stationery.

Instead of having two separate invitations, they decided to go with a bilingual design that incorporated both languages on a single card. Geraldine knew she wanted a romantic design, and really wanted to incorporate a vintage lace graphic with blind letterpress printing. She loved several of the designs from my invitation collection, but we decided to go with a custom design to accommodate the additional wording she needed.

The final invitation design featured a gorgeous blind letterpress printed lace detail along the bottom edge, with copper foil printing for the text, all on Crane’s Lettra paper in Fluorescent white. With so much text to include, we needed to get creative on the layout. By using italics for the Spanish wording, we were able to distinguish between the two languages while keeping the design cohesive.

The reception card was also bilingual, and featured copper foil printing for all the elements. I love the contrast of the subtle blind letterpress printed lace on the invitation with the bold copper foil lace on the reception card. To bring in some color, we went with navy ink in flat printing for the response card. The navy ink added a great pop of color, and by using flat printing for the response card we were able to keep costs down.

I absolutely love the way this suite turned out. Copper is my new favorite foil, and I have a feeling I’ll be using it a lot in the future.

Carolyn + Dave’s Traditional Romantic Wedding Invitations

Sarah fromÂ Banter & CharmÂ sent over these beautiful traditionalÂ wedding invitations that she created for a recent client â€“ I love the subtle gray and white color palette paired with pink edge painting! Sarah decided to keep things simple with a typography-focused design letterpress printed on super thick paper. Always a classic combination!

From Sarah: A self-proclaimed paper snob, Carolyn was looking for a traditional, yet romantic design on thick, luxurious paper. She shared her inspiration board with me, and after a bit of brainstorming we decided on a classy, typographic design with letterpress printing inÂ gray ink on thick 220# cotton paper. For a subtle pop of color, we added pink edge painting to the invitation and RSVP. The return address and rsvp address were letterpress printedÂ to finish off the invitation suite.

For Carolyn’s day of stationery, we went with a similar typographic design, and used pink again to add a romantic touch. For the menu and program we went with flat printing to stay within budget and on schedule. The meal choice illustrations made another appearance on the dinner menu to tie everything together.
