Today, we’re using decoupage – one of the most basic skills in the DIY arsenal – to create a charming recipe box perfect for Mother’s Day (or to give as a lovely hostess gift). This project elevates a simple unfinished recipe box available from most any craft store with beautiful decorative paper and a little hardware. Fill it up with matching tabbed dividers and your favorite recipes, or think outside the box (no pun intended) and load it up with cherished photos. – Mandy Pellegrin of Fabric Paper Glue
Materials
unfinished wooden recipe box
decorative paper or gift wrap
pencil
scissors
decoupage glue
paint brush
craft knife
card holder hardware
screwdriver
Step One: Begin by tracing each side of the box onto the wrong side of the decorative paper. Cut them out.
Step Two: Decoupage each piece of decorative paper onto the recipe box with glue and a paint brush.
Step Three: Once the glue had dried, use a craft knife to carefully cut through the paper to allow the top to open.
Step Four: Install the card holder hardware on the center of the front.
