I love the concept behind these night sky letterpress wedding invitations from Jen of Shipwright & Co.! Inspired by the groom’s proposal story, the suite follows the progression of the sun across the sky during a single day, starting with sunrise-inspired save the dates and continuing to dusk-inspired wedding invitations with the prettiest pale pink glow and knockout letterpress printed text in a flood of dusty blue ink! Seriously so, so, so pretty.
From Jen: These invitations and save the dates follow the progression of the sun in the sky, from sunrise in the save the dates to sunset and a nighttime sky full of stars in the invitations and thank you cards. The color palette begins with red and orange for the sunrise-inspired save the dates, then transitions to blues and light pink for the dusk-inspired wedding invitations.
When we first met Caitlin and Colin, we were told the story of Colin’s proposal. Colin flies drones for aerial photography and is also a Miata enthusiast. He and 43 other Miata owners gathered in a parking lot to spell out “Marry Me?” while he flew the drone and Caitlin operated the camera. If you look closely at the lower left corner of the save the date, you’ll see a Miata with Colin, Caitlin, and their son inside, watching the sunrise.Â
From the sunrise of the save the date, the invitation moves into dusk in a four-color scene of their wedding location in the mountains of southern California.
The folded thank you card brings the setting into nighttime with a full sky of stars and a crescent moon. We loved drawing inspiration from the Ojai landscape and from the dreamy colors of the sunrises and sunsets.
Thanks Jen!
