We all fell in love with Ann-Marie’s beautiful hand lettered bridal shower invitations last week, and with such talented friends it’s no surprise that Ann-Marie’s save the dates would be equally fantastic! Ann-Marie and John are both graphic designers, so Ann-Marie was faced with the difficult task of merging their distinct design styles into a seamless save the date design. The final result features a fun accordion fold layout and lots of bright color!
From Ann-Marie:Â As two graphic designers with opposite styles, coming up with a unique save the date concept that would merge our two tastes together was easier said than done. My fiance John loves comic books and hand-lettering and I love clean lines and funky packaging. But finally, after many conversations and rejected mock-ups (save the dates are serious business!), we were able to meet in the middle.
Since the theme of our wedding is “Rustic Fiesta,” we have a pretty bold color palette. The actual save the date card is an accordion fold that features my typography and John’s illustration of our wedding venue.
Â
We also added a simple yellow stripe pattern to the backside for an additional pop of color. To house the Save the Date card (and create anticipation for what’s to come), we adhered a glassine bag to a cream-colored card and stamped a custom design below the bag. To finish it off, a small strip of aqua washi tape was applied to the glassine envelope to keep the accordion fold card in place and draw out the suspense of opening our happy mail.
Thanks so much Ann-Marie!
