I’m a long-time fan of the beautiful art of papercutting, from greeting cards to artwork to ketubahs and marriage certificates. Â So when artist Naomi Shiek sent over her collection of stunning woodland papercut wedding invitations, well, let’s just say it was love at first sight. Â Naomi draws her inspiration from nature, with each lovely design focuses on a specific botanical theme.
From Naomi: Â I am a huge fan of tactile stationery, I think there’s nothing more beautiful than feeling the images as well as seeing them. Â My inspiration is always nature and folklore. Â I enjoy the process of papercutting and the imagery is influenced by the slow reveal of the silhouette during the cutting process. Â With my invitations & reply cards I wanted to create nature scenes with an air of romance and mystique about them and I wanted the handmade craft to show through. Â There are seven pre-made designs in the collection: Wings, Dandelion, Peonies In Bloom, Big Flower, Deer Beloved, Fern, and Bamboo. Â Each design includes an invitation and reply card.

I love these – very, very beautiful.
how clever I just love papercutting such an art.
So, amazing!!! I love these!
WOW. (double wow.)
These are refreshing and so very creative. Deer Beloved style has my heart. 🙂
Wow! These are gorgeous! They look so delicate… I love the one with the deer in the forest, and the one with the fern leaves.
Thank you so much for the feature, so exciting to see this up!
Gorgeous! These really caught my attention. So fresh.
i love how she speaks of the tactile aspect of dealing with paper or invitations – it’s so important! 🙂
I love how Naomi said that she loves feeling the images as well as seeing them. I am also a huge fan of stationary papers, and I was collecting them when I was a child. Those paper arts are so gorgeous and can be a very good idea for a wedding letter invitation. 🙂
Ya know, I really wish that I had known in my youth that “papercuts” could be “a thing.” I distinctly remember cutting out Greek gods and goddesses for a school project and a snarky friend wondering aloud, “Hmmm too bad you can’t get a job with that skill!”
Isn’t that sad? On multiple levels!
Anyway, these are amazingly cool, and make me want to give it a try again. And not even for “a job.” 🙂
Oh goodness, these are so delicate and pretty!
Stunning!
so awesome!
