Brimfield!

It feels so good to be back home!  I’m slowly catching up from being away last week, so first today I thought I’d start off with some photos from our stop at Brimfield on Friday.  Since this was my first time at the show, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.  The show was a bit of a bust in terms of my personal wishlist (sadly the good deals were few and far between), but I did end up coming home with my top priority – an antique shoe rack, yay!  Although I didn’t come home with much this year, there were still plenty of gorgeous antiques to be seen:

So many beautiful cabinets, and in all sorts of sizes and shapes!  If I ever open my own brick and mortar stationery store, I’ll definitely be coming to Brimfield for a few of these gorgeous pieces.

And of course, there was plenty of antique wood and metal type.

So many glass jars and bottles!  From brown and blue mason jars to milk bottles to antique apothecary bottles, Brimfield is a total gold mine for anyone planning a wedding.

So many beautiful antique quilts.  I’m still a little bit sad that this one didn’t end up coming home with me…

My husband particularly enjoyed the antique military ephemera – these are just like my grandfather’s pilot’s wings from the U.S. Army Air Corps!

Have any of you been to Brimfield?  I’d be curious to know if you found the selection to be different in May vs. September – or if you have a favorite find from the show!

{all photos by me}

  1. I think the trick is to get there pretty much the second the fields open. I went in May. It is more of a museum like experience for me, or if you own a shop and awesome place to find some one of a kind pieces that you’ll resell. prices are a little steep in my opinion, but I do love seeing all the interesting things. We bought some terrific shutters off an old canadian barn that fit perfectly in our floor to ceiling front windows.

  2. i have been to so many shows and have stayed home the past couple of years. i think the selection really doesn’t change all that much…what sells in may is replaced with other fantastic things in september. there are really very few deals to be found. and what one of a kind selection is there is scooped up before dawn by large stores like anthro and the like. the prices make it hard for small shop owners to resell.

    all that said, i think it’s worth a visit at least once, because as katie said, it really is a museum like experience. rarely does one ever get to see such quantities of amazing stuff all in one place

  3. Hi Nole! I have been to a July and September show and found the July show much better than September. The first time I went was in September and I was so disappointed, but I tried again this past July and could not carry everything I found! I am sure everyone has a different experience, but at least it looks like you had a great time! 🙂
