Spring is my favorite season in DC. After just a few short weeks, my city has gone from drab and gray to full of color and teeming with life. We took a little field trip to the National Arboretum this weekend, where everything is suddenly bursting into bloom. Of course, DC is famous for its cherry blossoms, but this year I’ve fallen for the gorgeous magnolia trees and camellias:
Oh, and remember how I was all about gardening a few weeks ago? Well, we turned over some soil to create a bed and planted some seeds a couple weeends ago, and we just noticed that the seeds have finally started to shoot up! We planted a butterfly mix, some double rose poppy seeds that Katy found, hollyhocks, and lupine seeds, along with a few bulbs that won’t bloom until later in the fall. I’ll share some photos once there’s more to see, hopefully in a few more weeks!

It is really impossible to be in a bad mood with all this gorgeousness around, isn’t it?
Oh, swoon. It’s like the flowers all popped up overnight!
Looking forward to seeing your little garden soon, too. 🙂
