Happy Weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! After a big week of recap posts, I’m ready for a nice and relaxing weekend â€“ or asÂ relaxing as possible with an active toddler around the house. This weekend we’re hoping to take Sophie to pick strawberries for the very first time! She has been very interested in the tiny potted plants in our back yard, so an entire field of strawberries should be a big hit. I’ll be back to share the last few recaps from this year’s National Stationery Show next week, but in the meantime…

National Stationery Show 2014, Part 6

As promised, I’m back with more to share from the 2014 National Stationery Show! First up for this installment, Moglea â€“ where the level of awesomeness was just completely off the charts. I wanted to bring everything home with me, from the dip-dyed greeting cards and gift tags to the edge painted notepads!

Ladyfingers Letterpress will always have a special place in my heart, and I was super excited to see what they had up their sleeves this year! In addition to some adorable (and hilarious) letterpress greeting cards and custom rubber stamps, Arley-Rose and Morgan also debuted a brand new collection of deluxe line with gold foil and honeycombs!

Does the card on the left look familiar? It was inspired by Sophie’s birth announcements!

Any Friday Night Lights fans out there? This was one of my favorite new cards from this year’s NSS!

This next series of booths features a variety of debut exhibitors (yay!) â€“ from the colorful modern stationery of Alison Hardcastle, the whimsical watercolor greeting cards of E. Oakes’s Nature-Inspired Letterpress Baby Announcements

These beautifulÂ baby announcements come to us from Bonnie and Currier of Tenn Hens Design â€“ and were created for Bonnie’s new baby boy, Oakes! Inspired by Bonnie’s childhood family farm, the announcements feature nature-inspired motifs like deer, oak leaves, and herons, a hand painted patterned envelope liner, and of course an adorable baby photo!

From Bonnie and Currier:Â We wanted to create a special birth announcement to welcome Bonnie’s baby boy, Preston Oakes Cross, into the world.Â Our concept took its inspiration from Bonnie’s family farm where she grew up, married, and where Oakes will be baptized this summer.

The property is bounded by a beautiful river which brought to mind the natural world of trees, foliage, deer, canoes, and herons. Illustrations of these elements were incorporated throughout the announcement, andÂ Currier hand painted a soft watercolor graphic pattern for the envelope liner.

The announcement is letterpress printed and duplexed to another card printed with images of the natural world around Bonnie’s family farm.Â The photo was printed on metallic paperÂ to add a crisp note to the overall color palette. And of course Oakes provided his adorable baby face. Don’t you just wantÂ to kiss those cheeks?!

NSS 2014 Sneak Peek: Paper Lovely

Our next NSS sneak peek comes to us from Kim at Paper Lovely â€“ and she’s been having a lot of fun experimenting with new techniques and mediumsÂ this past year! Kim’s newest collection includes watercolor illustrations, die cutting, and dip dyeing. TheÂ Botanical Watercolor 2015 calendar is both digitally and letterpress printed and new notepad designsÂ are created from original watercolor illustrations. Paper Lovely (Booth 2065) will alsoÂ debut aÂ new Luxe Stationery line letterpress printed on extra thick cotton paper with rounded corners, along with a bunch of new letterpress greeting cards!

Calligraphy Inspiration: Lydia Robin Hendrix
