Madeline + Josh’s Rustic Kraft Paper Tennessee Wedding Invitations

Happy Tuesday everyone!  After a much-needed long weekend, we’re jumping right back into the week with a gorgeous set of wedding invitations from Erin at Arboreal.  Erin created these beautiful and rustic invitations for a farm wedding in Tennessee.  The invitations feature one of my favorite combinations – kraft paper and white text – and Erin also worked with the couple to create corresponding menus, thank you cards, and favor tags!

From Erin of Arboreal:  I met Madeline and Josh last year and worked with them on all of their paper goods, from the save the date down to the programs and favor tags.  Working with two creatives (an interior designer and an architect) was refreshing – I love the fact that these two cared about every detail just as much as I did!

The main invitation and tag were both letterpress printed.  The celebration dinner, reply card, map card, and program are foil stamped in white along with chocolate flat ink on kraft paper.  Finishing details include vintage stamps and white calligraphy on kraft paper envelopes plus favor tags and thank you notes.

Such a beautiful invitation suite – thanks Erin!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s a gorgeous day here in DC – it has me so excited for spring to arrive in a few weeks!  And after a long week, I’m also grateful for the long President’s Day weekend.   I’m looking forward to walking around our neighborhood, which is just so much more pleasant when the sun is out and shining!  But in the meantime…

Calligraphy Wedding Party Thank You Cards

Continuing some of the hand lettering love from yesterday, calligrapher Amy Lee from Storied Ink Studio sent over these lovely calligraphy thank you cards for wedding party attendants.  The cards are inspired by poems by George Herbert.  What a beautiful way to thank your maid of honor and bridesmaids for all of their help during the wedding planning process!

From Amy: I personally love it when design enhances the meaning of a written sentiment.  This particular card was inspired by this philosophy, and by the pattern poems of George Herbert.  Each A2-size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) card is hand lettered with dip pen calligraphy to bring a personal touch to this special detail of your wedding.

Thanks Amy!

Illustration + Hand Lettering from Kate Forrester

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  Sadly, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather these last few days, so today I’m going to leave you with some beautiful work from UK-based designer/hand lettering artist/calligrapher Kate Forrester.  I had so much fun browsing Kate’s portfolio and selecting a few favorite lettering projects, starting with the beautiful Valentine’s Day illustration that she created for her sweetheart this year!

You can check out more of Kate’s work, including some of her fabulous packaging design and commercial projects, right here.  Thanks Kate!

Kelly + John’s Modern Wedding Invitations + Save the Dates

Happy Monday everyone!  We’re starting the week off with a beautiful suite of wedding save the dates and invitations from Melissa and Amy at Atheneum Creative.  Melissa and Amy worked with bride and groom Kelly and John to develop a fresh approach to the idea of a magnet save the date.  The save the dates were later followed by beautiful wedding invitations with gorgeous hand lettered text in white ink on kraft paper for a modern and natural feel.

From Melissa + Amy: Kelly and John first came to us with the idea of a traditional magnet save the date.  We wanted to push this design to be more than the standard magnet that most people have seen.  We presented the idea of printing a separate magnet to hold up a digitally printed save the date card (creating a nice keepsake magnet).

The magnet was packaged in a custom printed muslin bag.  Kelly and John loved the idea of bringing in natural tones to offset the purple and green in the color palette, choosing to use a muslin bag to hold the magnet within the envelope.

When it came time for the invite, the couple really wanted to push the natural color palette with a touch of the green or purple – which lead us to introducing the kraft and a very playful calligraphy style.  This is a very fun set of materials for a very fun couple. We love it when couples come in with a vision of what they want and we are given the chance to address their wishes and push it even further.

We also created a series of thank you cards that can be used throughout the before and after wedding festivities.  We have some really fun ides in store for all their ‘day of’ materials.

Thanks Melissa + Amy!
