Eclectic Jewel Tone Geometric Wedding Invitations

Christy from Papertree Studio worked with photographer Jen Woodruff to create these eclectic jewel tone geometric wedding invitations with copper foil printing for Jen’s offbeat mid-week (so fun!) wedding. Christie incorporated geometric lines, multiple patterns, pops of copper, and a super cool marbled envelope liner to match Jen’s unique and modern aesthetic. I’m loving all the details in this suite!

From Christy: This past fall I was approached by a talented photographer in the industry, Jen Woodruff, to meet and discuss the vision she had for her offbeat Thursday wedding. Jen wasn’t finding anything she liked online so she decided custom was the way to go. After chatting with Jen, I had my fingers crossed that I would get to design her wedding invitations!

Jen wanted to use rich jewel tones paired with a metallic color and wanted to incorporate different patterns throughout her invitation suite.  Jen really wanted her invitations to be unique and fun, but also high end. I couldn’t wait to get started! I began the design process with the invitation. I pulled in a very simple geometric line art drawing and decided on a rich green background with copper foil accents.

To add an element of surprise, we put a beautiful and colorful pattern on the back to pull in more colors that were in our palette. Also pulling details from that pattern, I designed the response card and details enclosure card. Both of the pieces also had the geometric pattern on the back.

The invitations were printed on a heavy 130lb white linen paper. I thought a rich navy outer envelope with a cool marble patterned envelope liner would add to the eclectic mix and decided to bring in that pink jewel tone again with the response envelope. I used a copper loose weave cotton ribbon from Studio Carta to complement the copper foil in the invitation.

Wedding Stationery Inspiration: Fall Color Palette

Fall weddings are my favorite. From earthy textures and moody fall hues, there are so many natural elements to draw inspiration from. And when it comes to color combinations, the options are endless: jewel tones, rusty neutrals and metallics, deep berry tones and shades of red, dark greens, deep indigo blue, and so much more. I hope you get some ideas from these fall color palettes! –Annie

Twelve Awesome 2017 Planners and Agendas

When I first started Oh So Beautiful Paper in 2008, it was nearly impossible to find a well-designed planner. I remember hunting for the best available options and just feeling SO disappointed. Well, fast forward eight years and we’ve got some seriously GORGEOUS planners on the market from some of my favorite companies. In fact, this year’s round up is our biggest yet, with twelve awesome 2017 planners and agendas – and there are even more cover and size options from the companies featured below! Yay for pretty planners!

Twelve Awesome 2017 Planners and Agendas

1. Rifle Paper Co. released their first-ever planner last year, and this year they’re offering four different cover options – plus a larger version for ultimate planning! The 17-month everyday agenda features monthly and weekly views, places to record important dates, and more. The pink desktop illustrated cover is my favorite design, but it’s so hard to choose!

2. The Ban.do 17-month agenda has a huge cult following, so if you’re already a member of the Ban.do Girl Gang chances are you grabbed your copy and started using it on August 1. But! If you’re still on the hunt for a great planner, Ban.do offers several different cover and size options, including this fun ice blue cover with hologram text. And there’s a TON of extras inside each planner, from stickers to coloring pages to monthly illustrations. So fun!

3. Sugar Paper just release their first-ever agenda, and it’s SUCH a beauty. Chambray cover with gold foil accents, extra thick paper, and a section to keep track of birthdays and thank you notes. Bonus? You can upgrade to one of three leather covers (including the most gorgeous pale pink) with monogramming options. Total luxury.

4. 17-month linen hardcover planners from Hadron Epoch with weekly and monthly views, space for notes, and a pocket in the back.

5.If you’re feeling overwhelmed by daily life, the Day Designer is all about providing a framework for balance, focus, and productivity. And it doesn’t hurt that the Day Designer flagship edition has the cutest cover options, from spotty dots to this fun palm frond cover!

6. A gorgeous navy linen cover with gold foil polka dots in this 2017 planner from Blushing Confetti

7. If a weekly agenda is more your style, I’m loving the new hardcover options from Rifle Paper Co.! The weekly agendas are wrapped in pink or navy book cloth and printed with gold foil – so pretty!

8. The 12-month planners from One Canoe Two offer plenty of room to doodle and write in the big open squares of the planner’s weekly and monthly views. I love this illustrated floral cover!

9. Loving this colorful rainbow stripe cover on the Simplified Planner from Emily Ley!

10. This 2017 planner from Fox & Fallow features a black fabric cover with copper foil and weekly views inside!

11. For the modern minimalist, check out these sleek and modern planners from Appointed Co.

12. The Get To Work Book is a mega planner for creative professionals and entrepreneurs. 246 pages with 12 motivational text prints that are perforated so you can keep them as art prints, full monthly calendars, Monday – Sunday week-at-a-glance spreads, space for notes and brainstorming, a “year-at-a-glance” spread with space to write plans, 14 “project breakdown” pages to help you complete large tasks, 13 “reflect and goal-set” pages to celebrate past successes and come up with action items for the next month, and a pocket on inside back cover. Whew!

So many great options! Which one is your favorite??

Happy Weekend!

Yay Friday! Do you all have fun pre-Halloween plans this weekend? Our neighborhood is hosting a big Halloween block party for all the kids in the area tonight, but official trick or treating is always on Halloween proper in DC, so we’ll have to wait until Monday for that. But in the meantime…

Navy and White Mediterranean Inspired Wedding Invitations

The essential ingredients of a Mediterranean-inspired wedding invitation? A gorgeous navy and white color palette, deckle edge paper, and absolutely stunning hand painted envelope liners. Camille of Robinson Paperie created these bespoke navy and white Mediterranean inspired wedding invitations inspired by the bride and groom’s favorite global destination: southern Italy! Every detail, down to the deckled edges on the invitation, brings a whole new meaning to the word handmade – and makes us daydream of quaint seaside towns on the Amalfi Coast!

From Camille: When I was contacted by Leah and Skyler to design their wedding suite, it was their story that inspired me more than anything. The couple had just returned from an epic trip around the world: South America, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, you name it! I was eager to hear what part of the globe their wedding inspiration was going to come from and… it was Italy!

Most people who think about Italian inspiration may think of wine, rolling hills, vineyards, olive branches, etc. But Leah and Skyler were eager to make their invitation feel traveled – as if guests might actually be joining them in Italy for the big day! After some thought, we found the perfect balance of “old and wise” and “new and fresh.”

We pulled design inspiration from the Mediterranean, sketched art, organic fibers, textiles, natural papers, and more. Leah and Skyler really loved the idea of making everything look “done by hand” so we did just that. The edges of the invitation were deckled by hand, and all the envelopes were hand lettered with white opaque ink.

The sketch of the church across the street from their wedding venue was hand illustrated. Even though the suite itself was simple in terms of the design, the watercolor tile liner was hand painted and given a cotton texture to make it look a little distressed. This was JUST the extra “pop” it needed! We carried over the textile design to the rehearsal dinner card and changed the shape to make it stand out. It was an honor to help this couple relive their travels through their wedding suite, and more importantly, share it with all their guests!
