Lauren + Daniel’s Historic Charleston Save the Dates

We’re on a hand painting roll these days! First Julie and Bo’s hand painted watercolor wedding invitations, and now these stunning save the dates from Studio R! The ladies of Studio R – Rachael, Megan, and Amanda Claire – created these save the dates for a wedding in the low country: Charleston, South Carolina. Inspired by Old Charleston charm, the save the dates feature a quatrefoil pattern belly band and hand painted map of Charleston. Love!

From Amanda Claire at Studio R: Our bride came to us inspired by the aesthetic charm of historic Charleston, South Carolina, where she and her fiancé Daniel were married. We took her inspiration and created a stacked, two-card save the date. The soft gray cards were wrapped in a pale blue belly band that included the couple’s monogram and a quatrefoil pattern to mimic shapes found in traditional Charleston architecture.

We used a local calligrapher’s hand lettering throughout the stationery, complimenting the hand painted elements of the Charleston map on the second insert card. The watercolor map orients guests to wedding weekend venues and accommodations. The subdued color palette of the inks and papers complements the coastal landscape of the city. Our fine art skills were showcased in this set with a custom watercolor painting, hand drawn map icons and hand lettering.

Chris + Rachel’s Lavender and Kraft Mountain-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I’m loving lavender paired with just about anything these days, so I was thrilled when Kim from Bright Room Studio sent over these beautiful lavender and kraft hand lettered wedding invitations! Inspired by the wedding venue near Mt. Hood in Oregon, Kim incorporated a vintage postcard and illustrated a mountain graphic for the kraft paper belly bands.

From Kim: When Rachel and I started the design process for her wedding invitation suite, she knew that she wanted to incorporate her lavender and kraft color scheme and wanted it to reflect the beautiful Oregon venue, but she didn’t know much more than that. We talked about her wedding vision and the elements she had already picked out, which I was able to run with to create her fun and sweet design.

The invitation is all hand lettered and featured a stripe detail in the background that mimicked a subtle stripe in the tulle of her wedding gown. We repeated the stripes on the back of the details card for an extra little touch.

I was excited to find a vintage postcard from Mt. Hood, the location of their wedding, that we used for the RSVP card. To tie it all together, I illustrated a mountain graphic, which was hand stamped and embossed on her belly bands.

The invitation suite was digitally printed on a nice thick stock and complimented with a kraft paper envelope to match the kraft belly band.

Brynne + Guy’s Modern Vineyard Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! We’re kicking off the week with these beautiful invitations from Brynne of Harken Press for her own upcoming wedding! As with her save the dates, Brynne drew her inspiration from the vineyard wedding venue in Southern California. I’m loving the nature-inspired color palette along with the wonderful illustrated envelope liner and belly band featuring the venue’s endless rows of grapevines.

From Brynne: Nothing sets the scene for romance like a vineyard. Our wedding invitation suite has modern typography with whimsical flourishes and illustrations. The color palette – plum, forest green, kraft brown, and pearl white – came from the rich colors of the vineyard where our wedding will take place in the fall.

Much like our vineyard save the date, the design was inspired by our wedding venue in Temecula wine country in Southern California. The hand drawn style of the illustrations convey the casual, easy-going vibe of the event. Since the grape vines are literally growing all over the property of the resort, we wanted to get our guests excited by showing the rows of vines and the hot air balloons in the sky in the mornings.

The vineyard invitation suite includes an invitation, reply card, guest information card, kraft envelopes, and a belly band to hold all the pieces together. The invitation and reply card are letterpress printed, while the other pieces are digital printed.

Colbi + Dan’s Rustic Idaho Mountain Wedding Invitations

I’ve had the pleasure of featuring some beautiful invitations and baby announcements from designer Kate Holgate over the past couple of years – and these rustic yet modern wedding invitations are no exception! Kate designed these invitations for a friend’s mountain wedding in Idaho, with some fun ski lift details inspired by the wedding venue – even though the wedding takes place during the summer! The entire suite was digitally printed on kraft paper with turquoise and tangerine accents. So fun!

From Kate: I recently designed an invitation suite for a good friend who is getting married this August. The ceremony is to take place at the top of Brundage Mountain, a ski resort in McCall, Idaho. Colbi and Dan were so easy to work with; they are such a fun, down-to-earth couple. They wanted an invitation design that was natural yet modern.

The entire suite was digitally printed on kraft paper, wrapped with stamped belly bands and contained in a bright tangerine envelope. The wedding guests will be riding a chairlift to the ceremony site so we thought that it would be fun to incorporate an old-school life ticket for the RSVP. Colbi and Dan deserve the most beautiful day ever and I was honored to be a part of it.

Peter + Kristy’s Rustic Letterpress Wedding Invitations

You may remember Peter and Kristy’s fantastic die cut save the dates from back in March – and today Peter is back to share the wedding invitations! Peter and Kristy wanted to honor the rustic and romantic feel of their barn wedding venue. They opted for blue and white wedding invitations letterpress printed by Twig & Fig, along with kraft paper and rubber stamp accents. I love the way the entire suite came together!

From Peter: We went for a rustic but fun look: the wedding was at a winery with a rustic red barn and we wanted to capture the old fashioned but romantic look. We had a lot of fun playing around with fonts and different ways to give the text depth. We’re just really happy with how they turned out and that we were able to do most of the work ourselves.

The main invitation was letterpress printed at Twig & Fig on 220lb letterpress paper. The RSVP, map, rehearsal dinner invitation, and envelopes were printed at home on kraft paper and 110lb letterpress paper.

We made our own belly bands and stamped them with a custom stamp and then tied it all together with navy and white butchers twine.  My mother had a shoe box full of old unused postage so we got to be creative with stamps as well. We used rubber number stamps on the RSVP card to indicate how many seats we had reserved for each party.
