Starshaped Press is a design and letterpress studio located in Chicago’s historic Ravenswood neighborhood. Since 1999, we’ve been focused on printing everything from business cards to invitations to posters, working exclusively with antique wood and metal type. No computers, no plastic, no way! We’re proud of our commitment to preserving the past.
We offer 4 wedding collections with strong typographic aesthetics, ranging from the wild west of the 1880′s to the sleek deco stylings of the 1930′s, a period that showcases when most of our expansive type collection was created. Each is open to interpretation and we work with you to develop a color palette and to choose appropriate papers. All of our printing is done on American-made recycled papers, which we prefer over imported cotton papers, ensuring that our carbon footprint stays in the Midwest. We also print marriage certificates, ketubahs and sign-in prints (in lieu of guest books) if you’re looking for more of an art piece to accompany your wedding needs.
Our award-winning sample pack of invitations is available on our etsy site; we highly recommend looking at our pieces in person to see the difference between old-timey (that’s us!) and modern letterpress work.
