{woodgrain + country-inspired letterpress invitations}

So it turns out that some of you have already used the embossed woodgrain paper from Gmund – excellent!  Spark Stationery sent over photos of this letterpress pocket invitation that they printed for an upcoming winter wedding:

I love the way the woodgrain texture complements the silver and blue palette of the invitations.  And since I was poking around on the Spark Stationery blog, I couldn't help but also include these country-inspired wedding invitations:

These gorgeous invitations feature fabric and stitching details – and I'm completely in love with the faux-cross-stitched detail in the font used for the names.  Very cool.

Woodgrain Embossed Paper

You guys are the coolest.  Really.  So remember Sarah's ridiculously adorable Save the Dates, printed on some pretty fabulous woodgrain embossed paper that couldn't be found anywhere?  Well, one of my amazing readers, Jackie, managed to track some down for us!

These woodgrain embossed papers are all available over at Gmund.  I haven't actually seen these in person yet, so I can't completely vouch for them, but I have confirmed with Gmund that the following colors in the Savanna style all feature a woodgrain embossed finish:  Limba, Tindalo, Bubinga and Glowing Makassar (the swatches above are of Limba, Tindalo, and Glowing Makassar).  If any of you decide to give these papers a try, please come back to share the results!

Katie + Ben’s Silhouette Booklet Wedding Invitations

If only I’d known about these invitations last week!  Kathryn posted this gorgeous wedding on Saturday, and I love, love the silhouette-inspired hard-bound invitation books that the couple created for their guests! The bride, Katie, is a stationery designer, so I happily clicked over to her stationery website, Chellé Paperie, and flickr page to learn more about the invitations and Save the Dates.

From Katie and Ben’s flickr page: The invitation is a hard cover book. We printed a full bleed on this beautiful oyster colored bookcloth and flush mounted it to the hinged covers.

The invitation was an 8 page hand-stitched signature, bound with red & white bakers twine.

The reply card is a perforated postcard.  Each book was personalized with a bookplate for the recipient, as well as a handwritten note to every guest on the last page of our book.

Some of the invitations were hand-delivered in boxes wrapped in woodgrain paper.

In addition to the post card rsvp and hand-written letter to each guest, the invitation book contained the main invitation, a map and directions, and weekend itinerary:

In addition to these gorgeous invitations, Katie also created a double-sided Save the Date poster, sent via custom mailing tubes:

Gorgeous!!  I love the personalized details throughout the entire package – and the overall design is just so, so lovely… swoon.
