Business Card Ideas and Inspiration #4

As a paper enthusiast, it’s no secret that I love business cards.  I love seeing all of the amazing and creative business cards at blogging conferences and trade shows.  And even though it’ll be a while before I need new business cards for myself (you can see my current cards right here), I’ve had business cards on the brain over the past few weeks.  I was going through some of my favorite images and noticed some patterns emerging – bright pops of color and quirky design elements like illustrated details and hand lettering…

{happy monday!}

Hi everyone!  I’m back!  A huge thanks to Jane and Kate for guest blogging while I was away – weren’t their posts awesome??  I’m incredibly grateful to the both of them for filling in, considering last week was just a wee bit on the hectic side.  On Tuesday evening, my husband left for a six month work assignment in Iraq.  Approximately six hours later on Wednesday morning (with no sleep in between), I jumped on a plane and headed out to Salt Lake City for Alt.  It’s been a stressful few weeks as my husband and I prepared for his departure and it was wonderful to spend a few days in SLC with an instant support group of wonderful friends and bloggers.

I’m slooowly easing back into my routine and trying to turn all of the fabulous inspiration from Alt into coherent thoughts and ideas to apply here.  Since I didn’t get to do my usual Friday post, I thought I’d start the week off with a quick round-up of some favorite links from last week:

Back with more soon!

Paper-Inspired Pairings

Hello there!  Jane here from Ill Seen, Ill Said.  For the next five days lovely Nole has given me free rein of her blog.  And although she was open to me blogging whatever my heart desires, I thought it would be fun to try to stay within the “paper” theme Nole’s blog name suggests, but take some playful little liberties.  Today, I decided to come up with some pairings inspired by some of my favourite items from the Oh So Beautiful Paper archives.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2011 everyone!  It was so nice to take a little break and unplug last week, but I’m slowly easing back into my routine.  I still haven’t really wrapped my head around 2011 yet, have you?  2010 was such a whirlwind and full of transition from start to finish.  I met some of my favorite bloggers (and make new friends) at Alt, moved to a new apartment that feels more like home, and lost my grandmother – all within the first month of 2010.  A winter storm left us with more than 2 feet of snow and kept us housebound for nearly a full week.  A bit later in the year I quit my day job (yay!), started a second blog, and then the months started to fly by even faster.  There are more big changes in store for 2011, but I’m optimistic about the challenges to come.

I’ll be back with some beautiful wedding invitations just a bit later.  But since I didn’t do my usual weekly round-up last week, I thought I’d do a quick round-up to start off the week:

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and New Year!

Marcy + Edward’s Creative Art Museum Wedding Invitations

These gorgeous booklet wedding invitations come to us from Marcy over at Be Frank, an invitation studio in Philadelphia that Marcy runs with her business partner Jenny.  Marcy just got hitched a little over a week ago (congratulations Marcy!) and sent over photos of her invitations.  I love the way Marcy incorporated elements from the art museum reception venue throughout the invitation suite.

From Marcy:  Creating these invitations was a blast!  I spent alot of time coming up with ideas on how to incorporate the art museum feel into the invites.  Since our reception is in a gallery at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, I love the feel of the white walls against the displayed artwork.  I wanted to reflect this in the invitations.

The saddle stitched invitation booklet contained all the wedding details.  I loved the idea of having everything contained in a book for easy reference.

The silhouette theme was carried through the rest of wedding pieces and the cover was letterpressed by Colleen of Cleanwash Letterpress in Philadelphia.  I was really happy with how they turned out!

Each of the RSVP cards displayed a unique painting that is part of the Academy’s permanent collection.  I was pleased with the pops of color the cards created against the solid colors of the book and the envelopes.

Congratulations Marcy!  The invitations are stunning!
