{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  I feel like I’ve spent most of this week in daydream land, making plans for all of the things that I want to do with my husband when he comes back home in just a few weeks.  Most of them happen to involve food, since my husband has been living on terrible cafeteria food for the last six months.  And I think there should be at least one cake waiting for him when he comes home, don’t you agree?  Anyway, right now I’m looking forward to hanging out with one of my favorite girls tonight, but in the meantime…

Gabby’s Whimsical Pink + Orange 4th Birthday Party Invitations

Carmela from Fiore Press created these adorable pink and orange letterpress invitations for her daughter’s 4th birthday party a couple of months ago.  Carmela incorporated bright colors, floral design elements, and a cute bunting illustration in the main invitation, along with matching thank you cards and floral envelope liners.  So fun!

From Carmela: I’ve always loved flag banners and I really wanted to print something with bright colors for Gabby’s birthday.  I always hand mix the ink, and I just love the poppy and fuchsia in these invitations –they remind me of rainbow sherbet and summer.  Printing two colors with such tight registration can be tricky, but I love how these came out!

I also printed corresponding thank you notes, and the envelopes are probably my favorite part of the entire invitation.  I love printing on the corner of the envelope and having it spill over onto the flap – who wouldn’t love to get these in the mail?  I used both poppy and fuchsia colored envelopes (mainly because I couldn’t decide between the two!) and used brown ink to print the envelopes, and lined the envelopes with wrapping paper from Snow & Graham.  I loved being able to do these for my daughter.

Carmela even used the same Snow & Graham wrapping paper to frame the invitations after the party!

{happy weekend!}

Happy Friday everyone!  This week practically flew by (as is often the case after a holiday weekend), but I’m looking forward to the weekend – even though painting my bedroom is the most exciting thing I have planned.  I’m trying to check some home projects off my to do list before my husband comes home in a couple of months, and although painting is tedious work I’m looking forward to a bit of change.  But in the meantime…

National Stationery Show 2011 – Part 5

Well, the 2011 National Stationery Show has officially come to a close – although of course my coverage from this year’s show is far from over!  And while it’s always a bit sad to say goodbye to everyone, I can cheer myself up with more photos from this year’s exhibitions.  First up for today, Hello!Lucky – which always has a fun booth full of personality and lots (and lots) of color.

Hello!Lucky

After making their debut at last year’s show, Pistachio Press was back this year with lots of new products, including some gorgeous cross-stitch note cards, notebooks, and calendars, along with colorful birthday cards and wedding invitations.

I’m loving all of the new fabric tote bags from Chewing the Cud, not to mention the new patterns in Viola’s line of fabric gift wrap.  And those new rubber stamp sets?  Couldn’t be cuter!

Lisa from Sapling Press just may be the funniest person I know – and you don’t need to look further than her cards for proof.  Oh, and don’t forget about these awesome tote bags!

Night Owl Paper Goods is a perennial favorite at the Stationery Show, and this year is no exception!  The Night Owl team recently added some fun wood veneer banners and lots of cute new designs to their collection of letterpress and wood veneer note cards, prints, calendars, and note books.

Color was definitely back in a big way at this show, and I was so happy to see lots of vibrant color at Egg Press – from touches of neon to unusual color combinations on some of the holiday cards – alongside sweet illustrations and fun geometric patterns.

I really love seeing stationers experiment with die cuts to achieve unique card shapes – and these heart-shaped cards are too cute!

Color also had a large presence at Fine Day Press, from Ashley’s letterpress note cards to her new illustrated calendar.  So pretty!

{happy weekend!}

The first week back from vacation is always a bit rough, so I’m definitely welcoming this weekend with open arms.  I’m hoping to finally process the photos from my trip to Italy to share with you next week, before I go running off to New York for the National Stationery Show.  I can’t believe this year’s Stationery Show is just over a week away – my favorite week of the whole year!  But in the meantime…
