Modern Orange and Burgundy Acrylic Wedding Invitations

These modern orange and burgundy acrylic wedding invitations have ALL THE THINGS! Pops of die-cutie cut acrylic, vintage stamps, a crisp sans serif typeface, and a warm bold color palette! Katie of Ink and Sable drew inspiration from the industrial modern venue and brought in fun acrylic elements to make this modern suite one that really packs a punch! So fun!

From KatieWhen Lauren Townsend from A Tale of Two Towns Wedding and Event Design came to with this modern speakeasy challenge I was, to be honest, a little nervous. One of the first questions I asked was “what’s the venue?” She told me The Glass Factory in Jacksonville FL. I Googled the venue and I knew from looking at the images exactly what I was going to make to bring accomplish Lauren’s desired look.

The aesthetic is all about gold, burgundy, and crisp accents to offset the historic industrial venue, which is an awesome combination! I really wanted to play up the name of the venue and hit it hard with the modern look versus the industrial look or even an organic calligraphy look. After seeing some acrylic invitations float around, I knew that was going to pack the biggest punch! Plus, it totally looks like frosted glass! See what I did there?

I really wanted to use a modern typeface, and as some stationers might know, writing perfectly on acrylic is quite a task! So what would get me the best results? Screen printing! While my invitation and menu were going to be the stars of the show, I didn’t want to do a disservice to the RSVP and Details card, so I embellished the typography with foil printing through CatPrint who does short-run foil press (YAY!). RSVP and Details paired with a shimmery gold return envelope really accented the gold.

Once I got the silkscreen, I had to test it on sheets of acrylic to make sure it was going to work. After testing and retesting I was ready to do the REAL one. I silkscreen printed the invitation first and let it dry over a period of a few days and put a heavy spray of varnish on top to make sure the ink would stay on the acrylic. I flipped it over to mark where my die cut would be and very carefully cut off the edges to make my invitation and menu asymmetrical. The final touch was to add the wash of gold to the back to add that extra punch of modern flair.

This suite paired with a burgundy envelope stamped with vintage 1920s speakeasy postal stamps was the perfect amount of jewel tone to really bring this look together. With the details laid flat on black velvet with hints of greenery and, of course, the rings, this suite was super sexy! Can you say that about a suite? Because I just did.

I’ve been an eBay shopper since college, back in the days when I used to spend hours and hours hunting for original vinyl copies of my favorite albums. These days, my shopping habits and tastes are a bit different, but I still turn to eBay when I need to find something really special and unique. I’d been wanting a cute wicker purse to add a bit of whimsy and texture to my wardrobe, so I headed straight to eBay to start my hunt!

Vintage Mint Green Wicker Purse from eBay

I love adding a vintage element to every outfit, whether it’s jewelry, a purse, or even shoes. It’s a fun way to add a layer of individuality and your unique style to an outfit, the same way that vintage pieces add character to home décor. And for me, half the fun is in the search itself! There are approximately 1.1 BILLION listings on eBay at any given time, so you know you’ll always find what you’re looking for. I knew that I wanted something wicker, but I was flexible in the color and shape, so I just searched “vintage wicker purse” and let all the pretty options roll in!

Vintage Mint Green Wicker Purse from eBay

I found the CUTEST mint green wicker purse that I absolutely love. The minute it popped up in my search results, I knew it was the one for me. Everything is perfect, from the rounded shape to the circular handles fit that perfectly over my wrist. The mint green color is the perfect way to add a pop of color to a casual outfit, and this particular shade of mint green happens to be one of my all time favorites. Even the barista at my local coffee shop complimented my bag, which was definitely a first for me. I’ve been carrying this beauty everywhere, from weekday lunch dates with girlfriends to date nights with my husband.

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

It’s been a minute since we featured some gorgeous wedding invitations, so let’s jump right back in the saddle with these modern gold and plum watercolor wedding invitations from designer and calligrapher Ash Bush! These stunning invitations highlight her gorgeous lettering and painterly skills. And can we talk about the navy outer envelopes for a moment, please? A sweep of gold paint, modern lettering, and a vintage stamp collage!

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

From Ash: Talk about dream project! Working with Laura and Doug on their custom watercolor wedding invitations was so life-giving. They were getting married at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, a beautiful, botanical oasis. Her colors were jewel-toned berry and deep navy blue, along with some pops of plum and glittery gold. The minute I heard her vision was the minute I fell in love with this suite.

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

I went very modern and painterly for the style and feel of the whole suite as well as the custom lettering. The outer envelope totally stole the show. They were a beautiful deep blue, and we contrasted that with a bright gold brushstroke across the front. The gold was topped with some white lettering, and the white lettering carried over onto the back return address flap. We also carried the gold lettering over onto the rsvp envelopes, but in a subtle way.

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

Everything was paired with paint splatters and tons of gorgeous texture. Laura opted for curated vintage stamps on her envelope, and that was totally the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae! To really complete the suite I designed a custom envelope liner in a subtle gradient of her colors, paired with some watercolor texture. And then I went through and hand-speckled the invites and envelopes with gold splatters, totally worth it!

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

Her day-of details consisted of the most amazing dip-dyed escort cards. I dipped them all by hand in a custom berry ink, and blue watercolor mixture, and then paired it with gold lettering. The event planner then hung them all along with greenery to create a stunning visual at the reception. I also made some custom signs for her food tables and bar settings.

Modern Gold and Plum Watercolor Wedding Invitations

I don’t think I’ll ever stop dreaming about this wedding suite, and the photos from the day show how beautifully it all came together to create a bohemian and modern high-end style.

Navy and White Modern Eclectic Wedding Invitations

These navy and white modern eclectic wedding invitations from Camille of Robinson Paperie combine clean, modern lines inspired by the wedding venue SoDo Park with playful brush lettering on the envelopes! I love the way Camille translated the industrial cement floors and exposed air ducts into an elegant invitation design. The white brush lettering on navy envelopes and gold wax seals are the perfect finishing touches for this suite!

Navy and White Modern Eclectic Wedding Invitations by Robinson Paperie

From Camille: I actually had the pleasure of knowing the bride and groom before I started working with them. We all attended the same college and that is where Patrick and Tana met for the first time many years ago! We started Patrick and Tana’s design process by trying to incorporate the look and feel of their wedding venue, SoDo Park. A downtown Seattle venue known for its modern eclectic style, cement floors, and high vaulted ceilings with exposed ducting. It is a lovely venue that doesn’t need a lot of extra decor to feel dark and romantic but modern and elegant at the same time.

I knew that I had to make something bold and beautiful, but also not let it feel like it was overpowering you with too much color or too many soft touches. Their wedding was in the spring, but aside from the time of year, the bride didn’t want to do anything with the traditional florals and watercolor she had been seeing.

So we went on ahead with using the venue as inspiration. With its traditional finishes we stuck with clean lines, lots of white space and one of my favorite fonts of all times, Valencia. Everything was digitally printed on Crane Lettra’s Ecru White. The matte finish of the suite, mixed with a bold geometric pattern of the response card really captured the overall theme and feeling the couple was going for.

The navy guest envelope was finished with a cream brush lettering and an antique gold wax seal which added a touch of whimsy to the whole suite. We also added a rehearsal dinner invitation that mimicked the invitation suite. Overall, the bride and groom were very pleased with how everything came together and felt like it captured their look and feel perfectly!

Illustrated Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations

Oversized palm frond motifs, dainty pineapple wax seals, and a vibrant color palette; these wedding invitations have it all! Katie of Honey Brush Design designed these illustrated tropical Hawaiian wedding invitations for a bride who also happens to work as a florist! When the bride spends the better part of her days working with gorgeous blooms, you can definitely expect that her wedding invitations are going to be packed to the brim with gorgeous flowers and foliage!

Illustrated Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations by Honey Brush Design

From Katie: This custom wedding suite was created for a destination wedding in the Kona, Hawaii. The bride drew inspiration from some of the favorite unusual blooms that she came to know and love as an assistant florist, as well as from the island the setting of her wedding.

Illustrated Tropical Hawaiian Wedding Invitations by Honey Brush Design

She wanted to step out and do something different than the traditional Hawaiian look. She opted for a wild and romantic feel to accompany her tropical invitations. With lots of greenery and jewel colored blooms, we chose a rich color palette rather than going bright. We went with cream colored paper to go up against the moody tones and to tie in the color of the white sandy beaches of Hawaii.

The Taro Plant is known to many Hawaiians as a life source and has beautiful large green leaves shaped like a heart. The bride loved the meaning behind this element and asked me to use it in the design. She also requested that I sneak in thistles to symbolize Scotland (where they got engaged!). Other details including a pineapple wax seal, monstera envelope liner, and vintage tropical stamps also bring in special touches to these paper goods. The invitation itself is adorned with unique watercolor flowers and brush lettering to add the wild look we were aiming for.

A serif typeface balances out the loose feel of the artwork with a more structural element. The RSVP postcard is coated in an ocean-inspired blue watercolor wash and the information card subtly sports a piece of fan coral. The creamy envelope liner and wax seal pop against the subdued blue envelope which is similar to the color found on the the RSVP card. The pieces of this suite have been flat printed on paper that is similar in texture to watercolor paper in order to highlight the artwork.
