Printable Floral Thanksgiving Dinner Stationery

Hopefully, by this time next week we’ll all be spending time with family and friends, stuffed to the brim with turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie – and any other favorite Thanksgiving dishes. I love Thanksgiving for so many reasons: family and food, of course, but also the chance to rest, reflect, and feel thankful as we head into the season of giving. I wanted to do something a bit special this Thanksgiving, after a long and tumultuous year, so today I’m teaming up with illustrator and pattern designer Juliet Meeks to offer printable floral Thanksgiving dinner stationery to dress up your Thanksgiving table!

I told Juliet I wanted something colorful and whimsical – and I love what she came up with! I love the touches of pink and red in the color palette, and the floral details are perfect for a late fall holiday table. We’ve got place cards, a 6.5″ x 9.5″ floral frame that can be used for menus and signs, and the cutest hand lettered gratitude cards. You can download the full printable set below, then print onto white card stock, and cut along the crop marks. You can even have everything printed at your local copy & print store to save time – just make sure it’s on 110 lb matte white card stock and you’ll be good to go!

The place cards can be folded and tented to rest directly on the table, or cut off the top half and use them as a flat card on a plate or with a place card holder. The place cards also double as little menu cards where you can write the name of a particular dish – or even use them to label the different kinds of pie! I wrote out the name of our favorite holiday punch, because that’s how we roll at Thanksgiving.

If you’re planning a more formal Thanksgiving dinner, you can use the large floral frame to write your menu and place it at each individual place setting. Or use it to make a welcome sign for guests telling them to grab a drink and make themselves comfortable. So many options!

And I’m absolutely loving these darling “I’m Thankful For…” cards that Juliet designed! Does your family go around the table to list the things that you’re grateful for before dinner? Writing them down is so much better!

Calligraphy Inspiration: Pink + Peach

Hey everyone! My 6-year-old daughter isn’t the only fan of pink in our house — I love pink. My fall coat is a coral pink hue, in fact. And when I stumbled on the work of Natalie Garrigan of Pink + Peach, I was tickled pink. I think you will be, too. Here’s a sweet dose of calligraphy inspiration. Enjoy! Jen

Yes to everything in this photo. The modern organic style of the calligraphy, the choice of berries and blooms for the place cards, and of course, the pink sofa.

Natalie is a self-taught calligrapher based out of Seattle. She just picked up calligraphy about 2 years ago (wow!). She went full-time with Pink + Peach about a year ago.

How do you get this good at calligraphy in such a short time? Practice, of course. Natalie shares: “My lettering style is ever evolving, as I feel I am still trying to perfect my style. That’s my favorite aspect about my job — I’m always learning!”

Natalie finds inspiration from fonts and she focuses on letter flow. She explains: “If I don’t like how my ‘h’ flows into an ‘r’ or ‘k’ into an ‘s’, I’ll rework the letters until I’ve found an aesthetic flow. In my mind, flow is queen.”

Here’s a peek at table settings just perfect for fall. The calligraphy place cards add the special finishing touch. The place cards above feature Natalie’s lettering work on broken ceramic tiles.

These pretty place cards show off her calligraphy on vellum with edges burned by hand.

Black calligraphy on white envelopes is a timeless classic – but Natalie’s calligraphy style and use of vellum envelopes makes everything feel modern.

Natalie loves to work her calligraphy magic on non-paper materials. Her favorites are leather and marble. Of leather, she shares: “It responds to ink beautifully and can be manipulated into whatever your vision is. Tiles are a close second because of their elegance.”

And with that cozy fall imagery, I’ll leave you. Thanks so much to Natalie of Pink + Peach for sharing a peek into her work and process!

Thanksgiving Cards

I know I’m not alone when I say that Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday. There is no religion, no high-pressure gift giving (and receiving), just overeating a large, delicious meal that mostly consists of carbohydrates. What could be better? There’s also the sharing of this joyous meal with family and friends, and the recognition of all your many blessings. All that AND pumpkin pie?! While Thanksgiving isn’t traditionally thought of as a card-sending holiday, recognizing and sharing your thanks certainly does lend itself to the written word. I’ll start: I’m thankful for these clever and well-designed Thanksgiving cards in our round-up below. Cue up the football, don your sweats, and enjoy! – Shauna

Thanksgiving CardsFrom top right:

1. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t be immediately verklempt with this Hello!Lucky for Paperless Post design.

2. Doesn’t this Dear Hancock cranberry sauce greeting remind you of one of the best Simpsons clips ever?

3. Check out this handsome fellow (complete with dapper pilgrim hat), courtesy of Golden Fox Goods.

4. It’s clear that Anne + Kate share my love of pumpkin pie (but not the ‘secret’ family recipe that we recently discovered originated from the side of the gingersnap box).

5. Yum! These cute critters from Quill & Fox are sharing quite the feast.

6. Give thanks for gourds – both delicious and aesthetically pleasing. From Pei Design.

7. Let’s be real – turkey is the worst part of the Thanksgiving meal. However, I’m choosing not to hold that against this Gingiber greeting.

8. If a bear, a fox, and a raccoon can put aside their differences to share a Thanksgiving meal, perhaps your family can break bread together despite differing opinions on current issues. From E. Frances Paper.

9. Happy Thanksgiving from this imbibing turkey. From Egg Press.

10. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I REALLY love pumpkin pie. From Hannah Berman for Paperless Post.

11. Check out this sassy turkey from Wit and Whistle.

12. It’s a cornucopia of thankfulness from Lucky Horse Press.

Plus, I’ve been busy over at Common Room Studio getting ready for three big workshops this weekend! Jenna of Mon Voir is coming out to DC to celebrate her new book, Everyday Watercolor, and teach three of her floral watercolor workshops. If you’re local, we still have a couple spots in the class on Sunday morning – you can sign up right here! We’re also getting ready to announce some exciting workshops and events in December, so jump on our mailing list if you haven’t already! But in the meantime…

Colorful and Creative Business Cards with MOO

This post is sponsored by MOO. I’ve partnered with them to share some colorful and creative business card ideas. All content and opinions are my own. MOO 100% recycled Cotton Business Cards are completely tree free and print vivid, saturated color – all on archival quality paper. Thank you for supporting the sponsors that make Oh So Beautiful Paper possible!

I absolutely LOVE business cards. I think of them as mini works of art, and I keep a bowl full of all the beautiful, inspiring business cards that I’ve received over the years. I was VERY intrigued when I heard about MOO’s new 100% recycled Cotton Business Cards – I wanted to see how the new paper could handle bright colors and delicate illustrations! I teamed up with a few illustrators, stationers, and graphic designers to showcase some of their business card designs printed on MOO’s cotton paper, and share some tips for colorful and creative business cards. And if you’re a new MOO customer and you’d like to check out the cotton business cards yourself, MOO is offering Oh So Beautiful Paper readers 15% off Cotton Business Cards with the promo code OHSOMOO!

First, a bit more about the paper! MOO teamed up with one of the best paper mills in the country, Mohawk Fine Papers, to create a modern twist on a traditional cotton rag paper. Made from t-shirt offcuts, the paper is completely tree-free and reuses waste material from the fashion industry to create an archival quality paper at an affordable price point. The 100% recycled cotton paper is bright white, with a subtle texture that looks and feels great in person. And it prints vivid, saturated colors like a dream!

Nothing bums me out quite like a cheap, low quality business card, so I love that MOO makes quality paper available at an affordable price! And if you work in a design-related field, it’s especially important to have great business cards. Here are some tips for creating colorful and creative business cards.

1. Stay true to your personal style.

Business cards make a lasting impression and can tell the person on the other end a ton about you. Is your style bright and colorful? Minimalist? Romantic? What colors do you love? Are you playful or serious? Bright white recycled cotton paper allows for really bright, saturated color, which is perfect for colorful styles! Your business cards should reflect your style and personality. I love the way illustrator Juliet Meeks showcased her floral illustration work around her logo!

2. Show your work

If your work is visual, show it on your business cards! This is a thousand times true for illustrators, calligraphers, photographers, and other artists, but I think it’s equally true for everyone from woodworkers to contractors to make up artists.

Business card design: Fiber & Dye

With double-sided printing, business cards are the perfect opportunity to show examples of your work! Lisa of Fiber & Dye used MOO’s Printfinity feature to print different examples of her illustration and hand lettering work on the back of each business card. You can also print professional photos instead of illustrations – just make sure the photos are properly edited and formatted to showcase your work in the best possible way.

3. Think outside the box

I’ve seen business cards of all shapes and sizes: rectangles, large squares, small squares, rounded corners, even circles and unique die cut shapes! The shape of your business card speaks to your personal style, and there’s no need to stick to a traditional rectangular format! Choose the shape that best shows your style and your work.

4. Consider Both Sides

No one-sided business cards here! I’m personally a fan of putting contact info on one side and logo/artwork on the other side, but there are so many options for making that happen. Bright and colorful on one side, white minimalist on the other side? Artwork on both sides? Should the front and back designs mirror each other? MOO’s design guidelines allow for a full bleed on both sides of the card, so your design can go across the whole card without worrying about white edges. I’m loving these full bleed business card designs from Meeschmosh and Heidi Gruner Design.
