{happy weekend!}
03/08/2013So I have big news: we finally bought a house! You may remember that we’ve been hunting since early December, and after a few unsuccessful offers we’re finally under contract on a cute little rowhouse – we move in just a couple of weeks! We’re just a wee bit stressed out trying to make arrangements for the move and some minor house repairs that need to be done after we close, and of course pack up our entire apartment (ugh), so if things seem kind of erratic for the next few weeks I hope you’ll bear with me! But even with the stress of a move, I can’t wait to start making our new house our own, starting with a fresh coat of paint in every single room. Yay! But in the meantime…

03/01/2013Well, it was bound to happen… we caught our first family cold this week. Sophie and I were first to come down with it on Monday, followed quickly by my husband on Tuesday, and I’m hoping we’re now at the tail end of it. Boo colds! We’re all feeling pretty run down, so this weekend we’ll be trying to rest up (and recover) as much as possible. But in the meantime…

02/22/2013Happy Friday everyone! It may have been a short week, but it was busy busy busy over here. Lots of planning for the 2013 Paper Party (yay!) during the National Stationery Show in May and a new special (but currently top secret) project that I can’t wait to share with you! Oh, and some not-so-fun tasks, too, like our 2012 taxes and trying to navigate the world of homeowner insurance quotes. But really, nothing makes me feel better than getting things done, particularly when the length of my to do list was starting to freak me out! Now I get to actually enjoy the weekend and spend time with my sweet little girl. But in the meantime…

02/15/2013Happy Friday everyone – and yay for a long weekend! I hope you all had a nice Valentine’s Day. Sadly, my husband was on a late night shift this week, so there wasn’t much celebrating over here. Hopefully we’ll find some time to do something nice this weekend instead. We’ve had a few glimpses of spring here in DC this past week, which has me so so so excited for the real thing to arrive soon! Last year I was so overwhelmed with first trimester sickness that I was barely able to enjoy my favorite season, but this year I’m so excited to introduce Sophie to our favorite spring activities (like visiting Dumbarton Oaks and the National Arboretum). But in the meantime…

02/08/2013As much as I grumble about housing prices and other various DC-related headaches, this week reminded me of how much I really do love my city. We took Sophie to the Natural History Museum for the first time, mostly on a whim and only about an hour before it closed, but the museum was practically empty and it was so perfect. We enjoyed the live butterfly pavilion, but she really loved the gemstone exhibit – and who can blame her? Sparkly things in bright colors? Perfect for babies! Our afternoon at the museum made me even more excited for spring and summer, when we can do more outdoor things with Sophie. But in the meantime…
