Happy Monday everyone! We’re starting the week off with some adorable invitations for a first birthday party! Designer Emily Ley sent over the fun images of the invitations for her baby boy Brady’s birthday party, created by Amber of Pitbulls and Posies along with the help of a few other friends. The silhouette and bow tie concept is just too cute – read below for the full details!
From Emily: Brady’s first birthday party was so much fun. We decided we wanted it to be sweet and young and classic… so we chose a “Southern Picnic” theme and used bow ties to tie the entire affair together. I knew I wanted the invitations to be tactile and to be Southern and sweet and with the personality of a playful little boy. I emailed my dear friend Amber Moon, of Pitbulls and Posies, and she went right to work and together we conceptualized the most adorable invitations I’ve honestly ever seen.
I took a photo of Brady and sent it to Amber, she traced his sweet little head and created these little wooden silhouettes which she then screen printed with the party information we designed together. She also designed and created box liners to hold the sweet little silhouette.
Meanwhile, my friend McKay of Oatmeal Lace Designs designed and created bows and bow ties for all of Brady’s little friends. The invitation read “On your neck or in your hair, kindly wear this bow and we’ll see you there!”
Thanks so much Emily!

I’ve already documented my love for gold foil, so I was thrilled when Joni from Chocolate Butterbean sent over the gold foil invitations that she created for her daughter Vivi’s upcoming first birthday party. Joni wasn’t able to send out announcements following Vivi’s birth and she knew that she wanted to do something special for Vivi’s first birthday. Joni was inspired by the gold foil on a vintage copy of Emily Post’s book on etiquette, incorporating gold foil silhouettes on pale pink paper and paired with dark indigo envelopes.
From Joni: I was inspired by the vintage copy of Emily Post’s Etiquette I purchased a few years ago. The cover is a rich indigo with beautiful gold text, and it has such a lovely, ladylike feel which is perfect because I wanted her invitations to be sweet, but not baby. The inspiration for the party is Vivi herself, and we will have her favorite foods and other fun things on hand at the party.
The invitations include Vivi’s silhouette, with the distinctive bow she always wears to keep her crazy hair out of her eyes, and her name is handwritten for a custom touch. Originally, I wanted to use a very bright coral paper swatch that I had been keeping on file, but unfortunately it was discontinued, so I went with the light pink for the invitation and rsvp card along with the indigo envelope.
I also designed a small postcard for the guests to write a hope or prayer for Vivi’s future, which I plan to put into an album alongside a picture of her with each special person to keep. I hope it will be a treasure for her when she grows up!
Thanks Joni!

We’re having quite a baby-filled week here on Oh So Beautiful Paper! After two adorable birth announcements, today we’re featuring these sweet baptism invitations from Julie at Cartoules Press. Julie paired modern text with a hand drawn illustration of Noah’s Ark, all in complementing shades of blue and green and letterpress printed on thick cotton paper.
From Julie: Denise wanted something extra special for her little man Brody’s big day, so we designed the Noah’s Ark invitations to be modern yet still luxurious by printing them on super thick #220 paper. I hand drew the simple Noah’s Ark illustration, and modern waves trailing the boat. We also paired the invitation with simple personalized note cards, which carried the same wave design and fonts so that Brody’s parents could thank their guests in style.
Thanks Julie!

Sarah from The Happy Envelope sent over these adorable invitations that she created for a country carnival-inspired birthday party. Such a fun theme for a fall birthday celebration! The double-sided invitations were printed in pretty orange and green inks, then placed in mailing boxes and tied up with a ribbon and lollipop. So cute!
From Sarah: These invitations were letterpress printed on ultra-thick, luxurious Crane 4-ply paper in a bright orange ink on the front and a mossy green on the back. The invitations were placed into chartreuse mailing boxes from Paper Source filled with festive, colorful foam balls and then tied with a pumpkin lollipop and cheery ribbon. An antique pumpkin illustration paired with vintage-style type and a woodgrain pattern all come together for a perfect country carnival mood!
Thanks Sarah!
