I’m a big fan of Amy Heitman’s beautiful illustrated greeting cards, and I’m so excited that she’s exhibiting at the National Stationery Show for the very first time (booth #2066)! Amy will debut more than 20 new greeting cards, including a brand new foil collection, and a new collection of illustrated gift wrap patterns. Here’s a little sneak peek!
More from Amy Heitman right here!
Okay everyone, hang on to your hats! It’s the final week before the National Stationery Show, and I’ve got some MAJOR sneak peeks lined up for you. And we’re starting with some serious gorgeousness from the queens of gorgeous: Sugar Paper! I think the ladies of Sugar Paper may have finally outdone themselves this year. The new release includes everything from a chambray agenda, tons of beautiful leather, new gold foil gift wrap, and the option to add gold foil monograms to journals and leather goods! Can you even handle all the pretty???
From Sugar Paper: We finally took everything we learned about planners and boiled it down into the perfect high-end planner. Our favorite layout, a simple and sophisticated design, chambray (because who doesn’t love chambray?) and gold foil touches throughout. We worked hard to get the wire ring perfectly gold and we added sections to track thank you notes and birthdays. It’s designed for smart, stylish, sophisticated women.
Aaaaaand then we added leather. Italian leather, handmade in LA. Agenda Case, business card holder, key fob, and an envelope clutch. We’re not messing around. The leather agenda cover and accessories will all debut alongside the Agenda at NSS, and will be available for purchase on our website and through our retailers at the end of the summer.
But, we didn’t stop there. We’re smitten over our brand new gold foil wrapping paper, and we couldn’t design perfect wrap without creating the perfect ribbon to match. And on top of that, we created tailored fabric-bound journals, our Signature Pens in two new colors, and an option to have a gold foil-stamped monogram added to journals and all leather products to make it all your own. It’s our best release yet. We’re in love.
Aaaaaaaaahhhhh!! I can’t wait to see it all in person next week! But in the meantime, you can find more from Sugar Paper right here!
Gift wrap is one of my favorite things any time of year, but especially during the holidays! And there are just so many gorgeous gift wrap patterns to choose from! I like to pick a different wrapping paper theme each holiday season, picking a few favorite colors and patterns within that theme to mix and match. This year I’m finding myself drawn to darker colors mixed with metallic accents, classic black and white with pops of red, and light pink and peach tones. When it comes to patterns, I can never resist a pretty floral, but I’m also loving some of the more organic and hand painted patterns this year. Or how about simple stripes and polka dots mixed with calligraphy gift wrap? Here are twelve favorite wrapping papers for the holiday season!
1. I’m completely obsessed with the gorgeous hand painted wrapping paper from Birch and Goldberry
2. LOVING the new gilded gift wrap from Christine Wisnieski
3. Rifle Paper Co. has so many beautiful gift wrap patterns, but I’m really feeling this blush floral right now – and it would look amazing mixed with a neutral kraft paper!
4 + 5. Beautiful dark gift wrap with hand painted patterns from Moglea
6. A beautiful (and neutral) metallic stripe from Smock
7. Katie Leamon’s marbled wrapping paper is SO pretty! This black and white version is via LEIF, and Sycamore Street Press also carries some pretty colorways – I want them all!
8. The indigo gift wrap patterns from Sycamore Street Press are so pretty, especially when paired with one of Angela Liguori’s beautiful metallic ribbons
9. Festive hand lettered wrapping paper from Belle & Union in classic holiday red and white
10. Another classic pattern – this time in black and white – from Sugar Paper
11. Colorful poinsettia gift wrap from Snow & Graham
12. Gorgeous calligraphy wrapping paper by The Hive Studio
We’ve been playing “Jingle-Bells” since the moment the weather turned chilly here in London. It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year! With under three weeks to go until Christmas Day, I wanted to share an easy gift wrap idea that you can make with things you can find at home. These snowflakes are – like the real ones – unique and personal in every way. They only take 5 minutes but look amazing! – Erin from BerinMade Paper Goods
Copier paper (1 sheet makes two small ones)
Blue watercolor paint or acrylic paint
Step 1. Dilute your paint with water in a plastic container. Dip your brush into the paint, then tap the brush so that the brush is slightly wet but not dripping. Stroke lightly over the paper to make faint, painted lines. Paint over the entire piece of paper. If you’re making more than one gift topper you can also paint multiple sheets at the same time.
Step 2. Cut the paper in half length-wise, and fold into a 12-part accordion, and trim the ends into points. Staple the center of the accordion, then cut a combination of straight and curvy lines into the folded accordion. Get creative with your snowflake designs by experimenting with different sizes and shapes for the cutouts.
Step 3. Fold the accordion in half and gently open it up like a fan, carefully separating the snowflake tips. Secure the ends with glue or double-sided tape.
Step 4. Use mounting squares or double-sided tape to adhere the gift topper to your present!

When it comes to DIY supplies, I tend to play favorites: paint pens, paper (naturally), gold leaf, and acrylic paint are all at the top of my go-to supply list. Also at the top of that list? Spray paint! I’m completely addicted to making these DIY spray painted acrylic signs for parties (like this year’s Paper Party!), and I’ve spray painted many a chair and table for home DIY projects. So when The Home Depot asked me to create DIY wrapping paper as part of their annual Holiday Style Challenge, I knew I wanted to use spray paint as part of my project!
The final DIY spray painted gift wrap project incorporates newsprint packing paper, various shades of Rust-Oleum spray paint, copper wire, nylon neon twine, and gift tags made from paint chips! So basically, I raided the paint aisle to create my ideal subtle, whimsical, shimmery, painterly-meets-ombré wrapping paper! You can find the full tutorial over on The Home Depot blog right here – and of course all of the materials used are available right at The Home Depot!
I tried at least a dozen different color combinations, each combining one or two color spray paints with a metallic spray paint. The pink versions are my favorite; I love the subtle ombré from mixing shades of pink with the metallic spray paint! But I also love the high contrast black and shimmery pastel blue. I found that a thin layer of metallic spray paint over any color helped blend everything together, and my favorite metallic ended up being this subtle pearl spray paint called Champagne Mist. It left the perfect amount of shimmer without changing the color of the wrapping paper. Another favorite combination involved bright coral and gold spray paint. So many great options!
The paint chip gift tags also received a layer of metallic spray paint, which is really lovely in person but kind of subtle in photos. Next time I’d love to try pairing two bright colors together for more contrast! I wrapped the gift boxes with the spray painted gift wrap and copper hobby wire with the paint chip gift tags. For smaller gift boxes I also used ribbons made of strips ripped from cotton painter’s rags. I love the additional texture of the loose cotton weave and frayed edges!
A huge thanks to The Home Depot for inviting me to be part of this year’s Holiday Style Challenge! I had a BLAST! You can find the full tutorial for this DIY Spray Painted Gift Wrap here, and more holiday ideas on The Home Depot’s Holiday Style Challenge Pinterest board!
