Navy and White Modern Eclectic Wedding Invitations

These navy and white modern eclectic wedding invitations from Camille of Robinson Paperie combine clean, modern lines inspired by the wedding venue SoDo Park with playful brush lettering on the envelopes! I love the way Camille translated the industrial cement floors and exposed air ducts into an elegant invitation design. The white brush lettering on navy envelopes and gold wax seals are the perfect finishing touches for this suite!

From Camille: I actually had the pleasure of knowing the bride and groom before I started working with them. We all attended the same college and that is where Patrick and Tana met for the first time many years ago! We started Patrick and Tana’s design process by trying to incorporate the look and feel of their wedding venue, SoDo Park. A downtown Seattle venue known for its modern eclectic style, cement floors, and high vaulted ceilings with exposed ducting. It is a lovely venue that doesn’t need a lot of extra decor to feel dark and romantic but modern and elegant at the same time.

I knew that I had to make something bold and beautiful, but also not let it feel like it was overpowering you with too much color or too many soft touches. Their wedding was in the spring, but aside from the time of year, the bride didn’t want to do anything with the traditional florals and watercolor she had been seeing.

So we went on ahead with using the venue as inspiration. With its traditional finishes we stuck with clean lines, lots of white space and one of my favorite fonts of all times, Valencia. Everything was digitally printed on Crane Lettra’s Ecru White. The matte finish of the suite, mixed with a bold geometric pattern of the response card really captured the overall theme and feeling the couple was going for.

The navy guest envelope was finished with a cream brush lettering and an antique gold wax seal which added a touch of whimsy to the whole suite. We also added a rehearsal dinner invitation that mimicked the invitation suite. Overall, the bride and groom were very pleased with how everything came together and felt like it captured their look and feel perfectly!

Navy and White Mediterranean Inspired Wedding Invitations

The essential ingredients of a Mediterranean-inspired wedding invitation? A gorgeous navy and white color palette, deckle edge paper, and absolutely stunning hand painted envelope liners. Camille of Robinson Paperie created these bespoke navy and white Mediterranean inspired wedding invitations inspired by the bride and groom’s favorite global destination: southern Italy! Every detail, down to the deckled edges on the invitation, brings a whole new meaning to the word handmade – and makes us daydream of quaint seaside towns on the Amalfi Coast!

From Camille: When I was contacted by Leah and Skyler to design their wedding suite, it was their story that inspired me more than anything. The couple had just returned from an epic trip around the world: South America, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, you name it! I was eager to hear what part of the globe their wedding inspiration was going to come from and… it was Italy!

Most people who think about Italian inspiration may think of wine, rolling hills, vineyards, olive branches, etc. But Leah and Skyler were eager to make their invitation feel traveled – as if guests might actually be joining them in Italy for the big day! After some thought, we found the perfect balance of “old and wise” and “new and fresh.”

We pulled design inspiration from the Mediterranean, sketched art, organic fibers, textiles, natural papers, and more. Leah and Skyler really loved the idea of making everything look “done by hand” so we did just that. The edges of the invitation were deckled by hand, and all the envelopes were hand lettered with white opaque ink.

The sketch of the church across the street from their wedding venue was hand illustrated. Even though the suite itself was simple in terms of the design, the watercolor tile liner was hand painted and given a cotton texture to make it look a little distressed. This was JUST the extra “pop” it needed! We carried over the textile design to the rehearsal dinner card and changed the shape to make it stand out. It was an honor to help this couple relive their travels through their wedding suite, and more importantly, share it with all their guests!

Michelle + Brian’s Timeless Silver Foil Wedding Invitations

These classic invitations from designer Carina Skrobecki are timeless, elegant, and somewhat unexpected for a wedding on the beach! Carina drew her inspiration from the luxury hotel wedding venue, printing the suite in a matte silver foil for a hint of glamour. The resulting invitations perfectly complemented the white-on-white wedding and sophisticated venue.

From Carina: Michelle and Brian were married in Santa Monica, California, in a beautiful hotel venue on the beach —  Casa Del Mar. Although the hotel boasts some quintessential ocean detailing, it has an overwhelming classic feel to it, and so did Michelle and Brian’s wedding. Michelle initially wanted to use a blind emboss letterpress, or some form of subtle printing that was classic, elegant, but also a bit modern. We ended up going with a “dusted silver” foil to give the invitations just a hint of glam. These translated beautifully for their white-on-white wedding with hints of silver.

Each piece was printed on thick 130# Mohawk paper, which has a surprisingly soft and toothy feel to it. The main invitation, rsvp card, and thank you cards were printed using 100% foil, while the reception card, and rehearsal dinner cards were printed in a warm gray ink. All pieces were wrapped in a deep gray belly band with their “H” monogram and tucked into silver lined envelopes.

Blakely + Matthew’s Glamorous Art Deco Wedding Invitations

These black, white, and gold foil wedding invitations from Carina Skrobecki Design and Lizzy Showman practically scream glamour! Carina drew inspiration from the wedding venue (and black tie formal style) to create this stunning Art Deco-inspired invitation suite. I love that Carina mixed flat printing (for the black and white elements) and gold foil – and the gold thread is the perfect finishing touch!

From Carina: Blakely and Matthew were an absolute joy to work with and together we created some of my favorite pieces to date. The two of them are getting married next month at the Arctic Club in Seattle, a landmark hotel from the early 1900s that was an exclusive club for men who struck it rich in the Alaskan gold rush (circa 1917). The building is beautifully ornate and the wedding itself will be a glamorous and formal affair, so we worked hard to have the invitations be the grand preview.

Each piece was printed offset in 100% black onto Ecru Crane Letra and then kissed with gold foil. We used patterns and borders to cue an Art Deco style, but also kept it fresh with clean, yet slightly era-inspired typefaces. Each suite included a main invitation with gold shimmer lined black envelopes — complete with gold calligraphy — a reply card and gold-stamped reply envelopes, and an accommodations card all wrapped together with a delicate gold thread.

Best of 2012: Metallic Wedding Invitations

The metallic trend has been going strong for a couple of years now, and if anything it was an even bigger trend in 2012! Metallics from silver to copper were everywhere at the 2012 National Stationery Show, where designers incorporated metallic foil in everything from greeting cards to wedding invitations. I’m particularly fond of gold foil, so today I thought I’d round up a few of my favorite gold wedding invitations from 2012!
