Today we’re getting back to recaps from the 2016 National Stationery Show! I have a recap planned for later this week featuring booths that were practically an explosion of color, but first I thought we’d take a look at a few booths that deployed color in a more restrained and strategic way – from black and white patterns to single color letterpress printed cards to foil printed cards with a swath of hand-painted color. First up, Ramona & Ruth! I love the way designer Kim Burks combines graphic black and white patterns – like stripes and spotty dots – with pops of color or shiny gold foil!

Ink Meets Paper specializes in letterpress printed cards with a sweet message in their signature modern hand lettering style. They just released a beautiful line of cards featuring a single ink color letterpress printed on colored paper, and I’m totally obsessed!
These cards come with confetti-filled vellum envelopes!
Iron Curtain Press has such a wonderful modern aesthetic, not to mention a fantastic sense of humor that really shines through in their greeting cards. And I’m totally obsessed with all the notebooks and notepads from their Shorthand office stationery line!
Embroidered patches – so fun!
I only discovered Tack and Ward at last year’s Stationery Show, but they’ve quickly become a favorite! I love their greeting cards featuring black and white text with a pop of color, and they just launched a collection of hand painted cards with gold foil text!

I love these two cards from Tack and Ward’s brand new Sanity Series – a way of sending support to someone who might be going through a rough patch or dealing with mental illness. I mentioned on Instagram that I thought the card above would be perfect to send to new moms – or really, moms with kids of any age!
UK designer Katie Leamon does fantastic things with black and white, from gorgeous gift wrap patterns (marbling! polka dots!) to notebooks to letter writing sets. And I’m loving their brand new Christmas crackers made using their gift wrap paper!
Ashkahn‘s booth is always a favorite at the show – all of his cards are fantastic, but I particularly love the single color letterpress and foil-printed cards.
