Laura’s Modern Chevron Stripe + Kraft Save the Dates

06/06/2011

As much as I love bright pops of color, show me something with the right combination of neutrals and clean design and I’m instantly in love.  This is absolutely the case with the save the dates that Laura from Lande & Maze created for her own wedding later this summer.  Laura combined screen printed chevron stripes with kraft paper with individually hand typed text for a unique, personal, and beautifully understated save the date.

From Laura: Since I design printed materials for weddings all the time, it was a challenge to actually design something for myself.  My fiancé Thomas and I are planning a vintage modern wedding, with neutral colors and textures.  My save the dates are just a little hint of ephemera to represent the day.

I decided to use alternative printing methods to help stay within my budget and set the tone.  I hand screen printed a light gray chevron pattern on brown kraft paper for the enclosure.  Each save the date was typed individually and all the envelopes were addressed on my vintage typewriter.  The inside of the save the date reveals our wedding date and a black and white engagement photo mounted with photo corners.

These are fantastic!! How did you do your own screen printing? Is it something I could do at home without experience?

    Thank you!

Does anyone else see the smiley face made by their bodies as eyes and the half moon cutout as the mouth? Really cute invitations. I love the vintage feel and that you used a typewriter.

Love these! I scrapbook, but I do it the old fashioned way, with black paper, white pen and black photo corners. So of course I was drawn to these. And how great would they be for Christmas cards??? Love it!

Fantastic!! I have to ask, how many of these went out? I ask b/c I am helping plan my Cousin’s wedding and we have ‘hand-made’ ideas too but are worried about the time it will take with the amount of guests we have.
