Happy Monday everyone! We’re starting the week off with some happy and colorful invitations from the talented Sara at Stinkerpants! Sara started Stinkerpants in 2007 after brides saw the drawings she did for her own wedding and asked her to create their thank you cards and Save the Dates. Sara is known for her colorful and totally adorable illustrations, and today she’s sharing two invitation suites with us! First up, the invitations that Sara created to help celebrate the Red Egg & Ginger party (aka 100 days of life) for her own baby girl, Charlie!
From Sara: Charlie Sue is my little baby, and I had a great time creating these invitations for her red egg party. Red Egg & Ginger parties are traditional Chinese “birthday” celebrations for babies. Traditionally, they are held on the one month birthday, as a celebration that (this is kind of morbid) the baby didn’t die after birth. Now people tend to celebrate when the baby is 100 days old, because one month is pretty young to be the guest of honor at such a big banquet. I wanted the invitations to be informative (some of the guests are from my side of the family – Jewish – and might not understand the significance) and fun. Typically the invitations for something like this are much more plain and traditional. I think the vellum envelope really added to the whole suite, too: they were really cute when they were all stamped and ready to be sent out!
So cute, right? Next up, Sara worked on these awesome Bob Dylan-inspired wedding invitations for a couple getting married in New York…
From Sara: Jenny & Christian’s square invitation suite was VERY fun to do. This couple had me design their Save the Dates as well, which were very unique. When they emailed me a year later for their invitations, I knew they’d come up with something great. The invitations are based on Bob Dylan’s The Freewheelin’ album cover, which has special meaning to the couple. We also included their cats (of course), and two butterflies, which represent two close family members who recently passed away.
Thanks Sara! You can see more from Sara and Stinkerpants on her website – including some super cute artwork for kids, like this awesome alphabet poster and individual ABC prints, along with other artwork like the wish tree (it also comes with owls) and a Bill of Rights & Laws of the Land set (love!).
