Vintage Bicycle Birthday Party Invitations
07/30/2010I wasn’t a particularly sporty child, but bike riding was my absolute favorite activity growing up. So when Ashley from Lemon and Lavender sent over these cute bicycle birthday party invitations, the first thing that popped into my head was how much I would have loved to celebrate one of my own birthdays with these invitations!
Ashley originally designed these invitations for her son’s first birthday party – complete with super-cute matching soda bottle labels:
You can find these invitations – this time with drink stirrers instead of soda bottle labels and fun striped envelope liners – in the Lemon & Lavender etsy shop. Thanks Ashley!

Reinventing Letterpress
07/29/2010Have you all heard about this book, Reinventing Letterpress by Charlotte Rivers? Reinventing Letterpress is actually the title of the European version – it’ll be released in the United States next month by Chronicle Books under the title Little Book of Letterpress. It has a lovely introduction with a short history of letterpress and more than 100 profiles of letterpress studios around the world. I just got my copy and haven’t been able to stop flipping through all the gorgeous letterpress eye candy:
It’s a wonderful book, and would make a sweet gift for anyone with an appreciation for letterpress stationery. You can pre-order a copy of the upcoming American release here or here.
{all photos by me}
p.s. I should probably clarify that I actually purchased a copy of this book – it wasn’t a promotional copy. I’m a genuine letterpress aficionado (just not a practitioner)!
Today I’m filling in over at the haystack needle, sharing some of my favorite California wedding invitations while Jen is spending some time out in San Francisco (lucky girl!). Check it out right here!
Just a quick reminder, if you’re looking for wedding invitation inspiration – you can find these invitations and lots more in the real invitation gallery!
On a personal note, if you’re interested in a glimpse into one of my average weekends in DC, I’m making a little appearance over on Maggie’s day in the life post on EAD Living. Maggie and I (and our husbands) spent a Sunday afternoon on one of the first truly hot weekends of the summer grabbing brunch, produce shopping at Eastern Market, and living vicariously through M + T as they start to explore the DC real estate market. Fun times!
