Vintage Illustrations by Mary Blair

I don't know about all of you, but Disney movies had a HUGE influence on me as a kid — Peter Pan still has a very special place in my childhood memories.  So I just about died when I came across this flickr stream via Abby's blog of conceptual artwork from illustrator Mary Blair for some of my favorite Disney movies — Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella:

Sigh.  So iconic.  Now I just need to track down the conceptual illustration artwork for Sleeping Beauty and Snow White and I'll be all set.  Check out the rest of the flickr set here.

  1. These are terrific. I love that whimsy of them and slight darkness. I am so glad you posted this and I was able to find out about Mary Blair! I think I need some of her artwork – STAT!

  2. What Medium does Mary Blair use in the Alice in Wonderland Rabbit Hole work of art, Is it an acrylic on canvas, or is it something else, if anyone knows?

  3. All of the illustrations come from the latest reissue of several childrens stories with her artwork. Toy can find them at any bookseller.
